PSA: Sears charging $50 less for new DROID activations than Verizon
by Chris Ziegler posted Nov 6th 2009 at 11:14AM

If you walk into a Verizon store today and pick up a DROID, you'll be out $300 (before tax) out of pocket, then you'll twiddle your thumbs for a few weeks while you wait for some mysterious PO box in Texas to send you your $100 rebate on a debit card. Wouldn't you rather just pay $200 upfront? Or better yet, $150? Sears -- which, we have to admit, we didn't know sold phones -- is charging just $150 without a rebate for the DROID today, a full $50 less than Big Red proper with rebate. We don't know how good these guys are with customer service (Simplexity is running the store on Sears' behalf, it seems), but truth be told, we can deal with a little incompetency for $50.

the Sears site looks very much like this one http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/965000/ and has the same price. so you're actually buying through wirefly if you go through Sears?

It looks like you have the sign up for the $59 voice plan, which negates the deal.

What's the cheapest plan to get?

$39.99 voice plan + $29.99 data plan = $69.98 plus taxes...

That's the one: Best running deal on the best phone on the market. Hands-down.

So can you get FW CashBack even though its really through wirefly?

Take into consideration that this doesn't include text messaging. The $69.99 combo package doesn't apply to the Droids, you have to go ala carte.

I just called to inquire if I would be able to use a corp discount. The rep informed me I do the phone and contact thru' them. Then take the contract to a local Verizon store and they would apply my work discount (Chrysler). I am leery to try this. I do have a sweet deal going thru' ATT that I am out of contact now.
$150 phone
$35 activation fee
$80 package
Any opinions?

I've been thinking of getting this as the Krave that I currently have is getting me POed. Texting with the Krave it locks up sometimes. I tried this out in a VZ store for a few minutes (I know not long enough) and was impressed. What gets me to hesitate is the data plan ($29) which I really don't care for or need.

Add 250 texts for $5.00.

Verizon needs to conquer the wireless world by releasing an unlimited EVERYTHING plan, priced at $74.98.

Text. Voice. Data. MMS. Everything, for $74.98. Family plans add $5/line.

Corporate discounts available.

[This would drive customers to Verizon like crazy)

I am *still* waiting on Verizon to stop being so greedy...

I got time.

All, take a look at Wirefly's internal Friends and Family site - wwww.wireflyfriends.com - they have the Motorola DROID for $99.99 and the DROID Eris for Free. The site is not password protected.

I want a deal like I have through T-Mobile.$59.99 a month no contract, includes the unlimited messaging, data and I get 500 talk mins. Did I say No contract?!!!!!!!
