I'm already on board for the Amazon deal but this is nice too.

I got the Amazon gc deal, too.

That's a great deal and as far as I am concerned, better than Amazon. I am taking the day off on Tuesday and plan to have the game in my hands by 9am....Amazon deal gets to me when the postman gets to my house at 2pm....IF it comes on time.

Here's my question, couldn't we take this deal and PM over to BB and force them to issue a gift card as well? I know it's still the same as wallyworld and Amazon, but can't really beat B&M on launch day

You can't force them but you can ask nicely... Best Buy is offering a $10 gift card with a coupon printable from your Reward Zone online account but a $20 one would be nicer...

Here is my question. Can I buy this return it and still keep and use the gift card?

cgbreske said: Here is my question. Can I buy this return it and still keep and use the gift card?

No you can't.

The being nice part was implied but since when are store policies optional??...

No you can't.

Actually, you probably can, but you will only get $39.99 back for the game. The way their GH5 GC promo worked two months ago was that the receipt shows you essentially purchased the gift card at face value, but if you returned the games, you wouldn't get full price for them (you would only get a pro-rated amount based on the % of the total cost).

I bought GH5 and another game to get the $30 GC, but ended up returning the other game because I saw reviews it was terrible. They didn't give me full price for the game, but I did get to keep the GC.

cgbreske said: Here is my question. Can I buy this return it and still keep and use the gift card?
You can do that, but they're only going to refund you $39.99 for the game...

Wow, driving to toys r us is better than waiting a few more hours to have the game delivered to your door and receiving a much more useful Amazon GC?
Not in my book. Amazon prices are usually significantly more competitive than TRU's retail prices, plus no tax for most.

Since I work on Tuesday's anyway, I'll be happy to receive my game upon arriving home that night. It's tough to beat Amazon, and TRU (& WalMart) fall well short. But it's nice to see they're putting in some effort!

Keep in mind that the Amazon gift card is available for a future video game purchase. I do not know what the extent of the TRU gift card is but if it can be used on anything in store or online then that'd be a great deal for those looking to buy toys as Christmas gifts and not just another video game.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get the PC version from TRU? My store usually only stocks the 360/ps3/wii versions of things but I'm not sure about major releases.

cgbreske said: Here is my question. Can I buy this return it and still keep and use the gift card?

yes u could return it, how it work on da reciept is they charge u 39.99 for the game And $20 for the gift card. So when u return the game it's only worth 39.99

DAAAAAAAMN!!! is Target the Only retailer NOT doing a $20 gift card for Modern Warfare 2, I have a $70 Gift card there, and darn nothing from Target yet.

Where is this deal on the TRU site or in store? I joined the reward r us and did not see the details. I preordered today while in TRU since I had a gift card, that was before seeing this deal. The made no mention of the $20 gift card.

I can confirm it, although it's just verbal confirmation...

I, too, saw the original CAG-post on Wed. (also with no link). Skeptical, I went to TRU yesterday during my lunch hour and asked a >40 yr-old CSR and she gave me a blank look. Luckily, I spotted a CSR who had the "gamer look" (doughy, pale, scraggly hair and stubble). Asked him and he said "Oh yeah..." and he basically rattled off the info given by the OP (and the CAG-post OP) verbatim. He said the ad will come out Sunday.

Again, no hard evidence, just verbal. No sign or anything at TRU at the time. In the CAG post thread, other posts from those who claim to be TRU workers have added fine details, etc. So more evidence it's legit.

Guess we'll know by Sunday. If it's bogus, just cancel.

p.s. Before >40yr-olds or gamers get mad at me for stereotyping, I'll add that I'M >40...AND I have the same 'gamer look'!!!

It should be in the ad in this Saturday's newspaper... Not sure about Target but Best Buy will match a gift card w/purchase...

Is this in store only?

what about Sears? are they doing anything?

I was looking at the ad and it seems that you get a $10 gift card all week long for purchasing about 10 different game (MW2 included). However, if you are a Rewards R Us member you get a $20 gift card between 10 and 2 on Tuesday. Is this just wishful thinking on my part?

Do you have to wait 4 or 6 hours to use this GC like they did with the Halo GC ??

<RANT> I Protest this stupid Nades Of Duty Game and all pc gamers anyhow should do the same!!! No dedicated servers? WTF, that's a slap in the face and the stupidist move they could do to pc gamers! This is the only reason the past versions did so well, Thanks Infinity Ward, now kiss my a$$! </RANT>

now I feel better

You're correct about the $20 gift card from 10-2, but just to be clear that is ONLY valid on Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox360 or PS3... All other titles are just $10...

if you sign up for the rewards card online, do you get a rewards number or something right away or do you have to wait for them to snail mail you the card?

Is it better to just sign up for the card in the TRU store?

You can print it out right away. I assume they mail you a card but there is an option to print a temp one. Thats what I did and stapled it to the ad with the $20 GC so there should not be any issues.

How long will it take Amazon to ship the game - does a person get it on release date? How much extra does that cost? Looking for (hopefully) a ship to store deal, that will allow my son to pick it up from a local store the day of, or day after release.

Thanks!

I might be confused as to what you are asking, but Amazon and TRU or two separate stores. Amazon is online, TRU is instore only. As for picking it up from a local store...This game will be sold at just about any major retail store that sells games. I was told by my local GameStop, that they will have over 200 copies on hand for the midnight event tonight.

What I was trying to ask about was whether it would be possible to take the better Amazon deal and get it delivered on the first day. I understand which stores are online only and which have both B&M and online stores. Just trying to find the best deal and get early, if not first day, delivery. Thanks

Can you buy 1 copy of the game and use the 20$ gc to buy another copy of the game and return the 1st copy with the gc you received from the 2nd copy?

Sorry, not trying to offend you.

We have Brandsmart that is selling it for $48.88 -- But I think that I am going to do the TRU deal so that I can have the GC for xmas gifts (Toys For Tots donations or the like)

Thanks Well, given that tomorrow is release day, you'll definitely have to pay extra to get the release day delivery. I ordered mine a few weeks ago (Amazon) and used the standard super saver free shipping - I got an email yesterday saying it was shipped and I should get it around the 13th (3 days after release). I'm pretty happy. If you really need it on release day, go with toys r us (if you're willing to go between 10am-2pm).

Not to mention the fact that in Kansas, we have to pay tax for Amazon purchases, so its NOT cheaper than TRU. We also have two boys and always can use a gift card.

Amazon's Release Date Delivery is truly a release date delivery. My last 2 pre-orders arrived on the date the game was scheduled to be released in B&M stores. Delivery time is dependent upon your area and carrier (I usually get my shipments from UPS late afternoon/early evening while FedEx delivers early afternoon... again, this is my area though and may be different for you). Release Date Delivery is free for Prime subscribers. I am not sure what the cost is for non-Prime subscribers. Keep in mind that there is a time cut-off for when an order needs to be placed in order for it to be shipped that same day (I think it is 2PM with Amazon but I am not 100% sure).

No problem - I was probably not as clear as I could have been.

Possibly REALLY hot:
Reading the TRU add, it statesFree $10 gift card when you buy 1 xbox 360 or ps3 game ALL WEEK LONG

OR

Free $25 gift card if you buy 2 xbox 360 or ps3 gmaes ALL WEEK LONG
Now, the Tues 10-2 part showsBONUS OFFER for rewards members only!Taken as stated, this means that if you just buy COD:MW2 between 10-2 on Tuesday, you should get $20 + $10 gift cards, and if you buy COD:MW2 and one of the other games shown there, you should get $30 + $25 gift cards.

Anyone else wanna check my reading comprehension?

This is like UFO watching; you're trying to see something that's not really there... It's a $10 gc for buying one, $25 gc if you buy 2... However for Modern Warfare 2 from 10-2 only, $20 gc, $30 gc if buying another game, $45 gc if buying 2 more games...

Skipping 8 Messages...

Would you mind posting the email? I went to toysrus this morning and they only had the $10GC. Thanks.
