The lowest price I could find for the tank and stand elsewhere were $270 and $130. That makes this $133 less. If anyone can find this set (or even the two pieces separately) for less, then speak up. This is FatWallet. That's what we're here for.

As someone whom worked pet retail for years as management (as in I see the cost the store paid), I can assure you that these stands aren't cheap. You're right, they should be cheaper. But they come fully assembled, painted/veneered, and shipped to the store (can be heavy!) in that manner. Also made of water resistant wood for good reason. It sucks, but those things add into the price....
This however, is an awesome deal for this combination, especially for $6 shipped. Salt water isn't easy! Do your research before buying it for a "Nemo".
If you don't mind used. Craigslist is a sea of aquariums and aquarium stands where a combo is rarely over $100 for sets double this size with every piece of equipment included. New ones have no resale value because no one is willing to do the cleanup before they sell them.

$259.99 + $5.99 s/h = $265.98

If they can get the wavemaker to work even during a power outage they may have solved the energy needs for the future!
This is what the site actually says: "The newly incorporated memory chip ensures flawless performance of the Ocean Pulse Duo even AFTER a power failure."
