Thanks! Four hours sounds about right to me. The site is owned by Amazon ... I wonder if that means it uses the same audio book program ... I've seen other free titles on the Amazon site from time to time. TYOP!

Looks like you got to install the audible download mgr software, then click on download from your library page and opent that .pl file with download mgr.
Thanks! Looks like old account is still valid to login with, good thing is credit card is expired. I was then able to download to audible software to burn or listen to.

There actually quite a few more books - also in the business section (counted ~12). Just go to 'Advanced Search' and pick in the selection screen in the price categorie 'Free'. Seems like there are quite a few free audiobooks. Can't judge though how good they are. A lot of them also seems to be teasers (excerpts).

Thanks for the tip!
Seems you need to load Audible Manager onto the PC & listening device first. Set up is VERY user friendly. The book itself is large and while I could only install the Audible Manager directly on my Smartphone, the book fit onto the Smartphone's accompanying memory SD card.
Now it becomes a question of finding time to listen to this 8+ hour free audio book.
Thanks OP! This is indeed a great book. I have been meaning to read this book since a long time. I love the fact this is an audio book; I could listen this on the road.
BTW, anyone interested in reading some reviews on this book, here is the Link!
Ok, using Firefox, I installed the download manager. I then choose the option to just OPEN the file [instead of save] using the Audible Download Manager, that's how I got it to work.

Thanks OP. I DL it OK & it plays with the Audible sfwe. I DL it as an MP3 but I wonder if it will play with other devices? e.g. Sansa Clip & Fuse ; Windows Media Player? ; as a straight MP3 ?

I had to resurrect an old account for this. On a mac, all I had to do was to open the file and it was supposed to automatically open in iTunes (as long as the version is >7.5). Still downloading...

It is in a proprietary format.
A couple of ways to get it in MP3 format, both of them involve burning it to one or more audio CDs directly from the Audible Manager. The first method involves really burning it to a CD, to save money you could use a CD-RW, which would allow you to reuse the CD many times. Figure about 75 minutes/CD to find out how many CDs you need. You can also use a virtual CD-RW drive, which would save you the effort of burning it to a physical disk, one free such program is http://www.dvdnextcopyiturns.com/DVDneXtCOPY_iTurns_FREE.html (make sure you get the free version).
audible has a new promotion for 2 free audiobooks of your choice...you will have to give your CC info but you can pick out your 2, dl them then cancle instantly afterward.
