They advertise it as "set it and forget it", and the first thing the manual says is don't set it and forget it. Keep a constant watch on it because it can burn your house down. It gets insanely hot for what is supposed to be a countertop appliance, you pretty much need to put it on the stovetop so the fan can suck out the heat.
And the glass door has no latch, just the effect of gravity from it leaning at a slight angle. If the door gets bumped it will fall open onto your counter and smash into a million pieces, and they want nearly $100 to replace it. It is little more than a piece of glass, with two little metal bits to hold it to the frame.
Plus I can buy a whole cooked rotisserie chicken for $5 at the grocery store, I can't get a whole raw chicken to cook for less than that.
From experience, it is a joke of a product, save your money for a BBQ with a rotisserie attachment.
Thanks for the review, maybe I did make the right choice in buying my $200 Cuisinart Vertical Rotisserie 2 months back. The $5 grocery store bird is only 3lbs though. Only time its $5 here is when its on sale.
My machine also heats up like crazy. After making a rotisserie once in it, I said I'm going to make buy thighs or drumsticks and use the basket from now on. A whole chicken is too much work. Takes up a bunch of space in the fridge to brine. Then you have to truss it. Then you have a bunch of sections you don't like. I hate white meat Thanksgiving for me is going to be a whole chicken instead of turkey though..
I wish mine came with some gloves like this one.
And a good alternative to this would be a Turbo Oven. One like this...Link 2 of my coworkers have this and I wish they told me about it before I bought my machine. They said chicken is very juicy in it. I might buy one myself.
chibimike said: And to be clear, the ronco rotisserie's suck.... I don't have one myself but some friends of mine do and absolutely love it. It's been a running joke with us about what delicious dinner is coming out of the Showtime tonight as no one ever expected it was going to be as good as it is. I've had chicken cooked in it and that was great, could not even be compared to store bought cooked chicken as it's not even in the same class. I've had pork chops made in it that were also delicious.
I'm not arguing your take, just sharing a different viewpoint
Additionally, for what it's worth, majority of the online reviews for this thing are great!
Starting to think, new member shouldn't be able to post for 1 month and after that only Non linked items for another 2. I always noticed that new members posting Buy this great item and I am guessing they work for the company that makes them or sells them..

At least, he's TRYING to post something helpful, unlike you, who trolls all day on here, get a job please.

It get's "insanely hot" because it is a ROTISSERIE, and they have to get HOT to COOK, Genius
I do not care about what these losers say! I bought mine as a refurb from Amazon about 7 years ago and this thing just keeps in ticking! Its awesome and one of the most used items in my kitchen. I am purchasing this additional one simply because I love the black color and my white unit has gotten filthy over the years..
