I didn't actually buy the set, because I just bought a new TV 6 months ago. This is a good price, though. It's actually cheaper than the 55" Vizio LED set at Costco.
Guys this is a Side Lit LED TV. 8500 series is the only complete backlit LED TV from Samsung. LG also has a complete backlit LED TV model no - 55LH90. Beware of these side lit LED's. I am not saying the PQ is bad. But its not a LED TV untill its completely back lit.

The 8000 is edge lit. The 8500 is local dimming. Dimming makes a huge difference. No flashlighting or inefficient lighting problems. The edge lit tv's are not bad. But if you want the most bang and your already going to spend alot, go for the better proven technology which is local dimming thus far.

I think I just fell in love with the 8500 LED tv. What a beauty. The 8500 is 1.6 inches thick rather than 1.2 inches of the lower models.
