LG Network Bluray Player + 3 Blurays for 149 + FSSS

Thanks to Paperbag, it appears that you will also get a $5 Amazon VOD credit for select NBC content:

"As a thank you for purchasing a DVD or Blu ray disc from Amazon.com, we would like to give you a $5.00 credit on select NBC content at the Amazon Video On Demand store"

Good find. I'm still hoping -- and holding out for -- the 390. Still, green for you.

What is 390?

The LG BD390 which has built-in wireless and a few more features. The best deal I've seen on it so far was $238 from Amazon. I have the 390 and really like it alot but thats an awesome deal on the 370. Thanks OP!

Do you think I could get a wireless bridge and use this wirelessly with Netflix?

Dont for get your 3 Free blurays out of there list!

Yes. Get a DD-WRT enabled wifi router and use it as a bridge.

So, I just did this. Going to return the WalMart one. I got my three free (crappy, but free) blu-ray movies from their selection. In my e-mail, I just got confirmation that I got a $5 credit to the Amazon VOD store.

"As a thank you for purchasing a DVD or Blu ray disc from Amazon.com, we would like to give you a $5.00 credit on select NBC content at the Amazon Video On Demand store."

Good if you like this kind of stuff, worthless to me but I figured I'd share if for some reason this pushes you over the edge lol.

thanks for the info Paperbag, I'll add to OP!

The movies generally do suck but a few aren't too bad: Deliverance, Above The Law and The Fugitive are old but worth getting if you haven't seen them.

I love that the blu-ray players are now becoming more affordable.

But no $99 love?

Be patient.. I've seen $79 Insignia lately from Best Buy. the low ends are breaking the $100 barrier, Soon these high ends will follow. Black Friday? and with free blu ray disc to boot...

The Insignia ,with Netflix only, was $99 on sale, but I wouldn't exactly consider the Bestbuy house brand China knockoff player to be anywhere comparible to this LG. This LG has way more features and would be much smoother in performance. I seriously doubt you'll see this level of player w/ the freebies much cheaper even for Black Friday (not that I'd want to be one of suckers waiting for the 10 they have available).

This LG deal is really hard to beat - I was considering the new Roku player, but this LG really makes much more sense for not much more money.

Edit:

I'm just realizing that this LG also has a USB port that can play MKV files, which is a big bonus - although it maxes out at 4 Gig flash drives (doesn't support ntfs) , but this should still work out great for all your 720p TV content as well as some movies?
This LG does have almost everything you'd want in a media player

I wish that it could stream Pandora. Is that hardware-based, or might it show up in a FW update?

It would have to be a FW update, but I wouldn't hold your breathe either...

This player is missing wi-fi

It's amazing how picky folks get in such a short time. You could barely find basic Blu-ray players for less than $200 this time last year.

You are essentially getting an all in one media center for $140 w/ $50 worth of movies. You aren't going to be finding a wi-fi player of this level for this price - good luck finding one for even $200 this year. You'd be better off picking up a used WRT54G wireless router for $25 on eBay, putting DD-wrt on it & use it as a bridge -- it's cheaper and you'll get much more reliable signal strength and range.

This deal is excellent. I paid $159 shipped last month for an LG BD370, and I thought it was a bargain at the time. After using it, I know it was a bargain. The Netflix performance is outstanding, the player is fast and quiet, with lots of configuration options. Looks good, too.

I added Wifi to mine via a Zoom 4401 router/access point, found on sale at Microcenter for $25 (MUCH easier than hacking through a messy router firmware upgrade process).

The BD370 is a great Blu Ray/multimedia hybrid.

arrgghhh i hate fw.... had to pull the trigger, too bad bluray selection is so so, but I got Troy, Fracture and Jesse James, i guess among the decent ones.

Could go for the $93.50 refurbished Samsung BD-P1590 at CompUSA.com which supports Pandora, Netflix, and Blocksbuster.

I did score the Samsung BD-P1600 from Best Buy For $150(+tax) with two free BDs (in my case, pre-orders of Star Trek and Inglourious Basterds). It is one of the CNET Editor's Choice (FWIW), but I'm leery of the front-panel design longevity. What I am really waiting for is a great deal on a "step-up" player.

bump, price just went down another $4!

People are always picky and lacking in context. The only thing that really changes is the deal.

Just set up a BD370 last night. Coming from an HD-A3 this thing is a beast. Power button to menu navigation in less than 20 seconds!

Thanks OP. I just placed an order but also got an extra $15 off promotion so my total is $129.44 including the 3 free movies.

I snagged that deal today. Awesome!!

I am not sure what it was, I just went through normal check out and it just showed up.

I bought this BD370, but then realized I was mistaken about its DLNA abilities (or the lack thereof).

Anyway, I was wondering what kind of credit I would get back for returning the 3 disks I ordered with this one? On my order status the player is listed for $107, after promotion, the rest is split among the three disks. I did not really care about any of the movies but did order three because they were free.

Does anyone have experience with these types of returns? Could I indeed end up paying ~ $107 for the player alone (+ whatever return postage is on the movies)?

I'm a bit turned off about a few severely lacking features that should have easily been fixed with a firmware update. I'll be returning it if LG support doesn't confirm updated functionality in a coming software update.

CNET review, and quite a few other reviews in forums suggested excellent codec compatibility as well as MKV support,USB support w/ movies -- even support for an external hard drive, albeit multiple partitions of FAT32 and split MKV files. Guess what - All of these features are disabled on the U.S version of the player. They've also seemingly intentionally disabled the ability to update the firmware via disc.

I can't imagine what LG could have been thinking. I find it shady and underhanded marketing - with multiple review sites that list features that don't exist in the U.S version (which surprisingly was never mentioned once)

Though 370 supports mkv files but its only support fat32 file system, hardly any mkv is less than 4 gb so without NTFS, mkv feature is worthless. Deal breaker, though 390 is at almost at double price but with wi-fi and NTFS it looks better to me

New lower price = $142.75

hitechjunkie said: New lower price = $142.75

Do yourself a favor and wait on the BD 390, prices will come down dramatically in the near future - The features of it give it longevity. The BD 370's annoyances and crippled features compared to the Non-US versions make it a poor option for long term usage.

$130 shipped on Best Buy online. Today (11/19) only. "Deal of the Day".

If anyone is holding out for wireless connectivity built in to their blu ray player, may I recommend this device:

http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Pocket-Access-Internal-Innovative...

It is an 802.11G wireless adapter/access point/router with an ethernet output. Perfect for hooking up to any ethernet-enabled player. It can be powered right out of a USB port, if one exists on the back panel of your player. The size of a deck of cards.

I use one to get wi-fi connectivity for my Sony Bravia HDTV.....flawlessly streams video from Amazom video on demand and Netflix.Com, as well as youtube.

For around $40, it is a superb solution.

Peace

Price down to $129.95 today, but looks like the free disc promotion has ended.
