Check CL if you can live with used. I picked up a pristine 17" Macbook Pro for $500 yesterday. Today, I hesitated over a $750 Macbook Pro 13" 2.53Ghz. I waited two hours and it was too late. What was I thinking?
Well, I likely wouldn't have replied to a macbook ad for that cheap. Would've assumed it was an advance-fee fraud scam, spam harvesting, or stolen goods.
Don't get me wrong I know there are legit deals that good--people do need immediate cash from time to time.

The only difference between the graphics processor in the refurb and the one featured on the latest model is that the refurb uses DDR2 rather than DDR3 SDRAM. That's a loss I'd be willing to take to save $200..
did any1 mention lack of remote sensor in new macbook? not that's it's a big deal, but if you want to be able to control your laptop on new one, you'd need an iphone with the remote app. i'm just saying.
Have they fixed whatever LCD issues there were with some MacBooks? I had one back in 2007 I think, and the screen had an annoying flicker to it - seemed like a good amount of people had the same problem I did.

I see what you are saying, sometimes it is just scams from people in "nigeria". But many times I respond to late and they say it's gone or their waiting for someone. If they were trying to scam me, why turn me away?
Mostly the prices are so low because there are a lot of very clueless techless people out there. I've picked up 3 iphones for $50. The last one was brand spanking new. I bought it from a dude in his late 60's. He said his son bought it for him but he just can't be bothered to figure out how to use some new fangle gadget like that. It's for young people like me, I'm not a spring chicken. He was sticking with his rotary dial phone.
