Recommendations on a pistol that shoots this?

Rounds with less punch have failed to cleanly eject on my Walther. I would wonder how dirty these are, but the price seems pretty decent.

FTW?????

Another case of buy and then decide later????

The Walther P22 is probably the most common, its double-sized white lettering is distinctive, and it's reasonably priced. Pick up either a new or a used one, you won't be disappointed.

The P22 is fun, but for known longevity and reputation, the Browning Buckmark and the Ruger Mk II/III or 22/45 all have decent reputations, and in my opinion handle a wider variety of ammunition more easily than the P22.

As for the ammunition, I've had good luck with it. I picked up a bunch for a class using a 10/22, and it performed adequately. Nothing super special, but not awful either. Since then, the leftovers have worked just fine in pistols as well.

Has anyone gone through the trouble of registering to see how much shipping would be? That could really kill the deal.

Ruger Mark III information

I just picked up a Ruger KP512MKIII and like it very much. Several reputable gun dealers and knowledgeable friends all steered me towards the Ruger Mark III. It's supposedly the best choice in a fairly serious, but inexpensive target pistol. You can't really go wrong with this one as it's always in high demand and easy to sell or trade in. It comes in two different grips, different barrel lengths, and several different models.

I have a few Ruger MKII's and I would go with this choice all the way....over 3,000 rounds and not a misfire...

I have a Ramline Exactor, but you can't find those any more. It works awesome but it looks like a spacegun.

I have never owned one, but supposedly they are a REAL PAIN to take apart for cleaning.

I am also not much into the raked-back handle on these. If I was going to go for a Ruger 22, I would get the 22/45. Same guts as a mark III, but the grip seems like it would be a lot more comfortable.

It's a little difficult to get the hang of it the first time you do it, but after that's it's not hard at all. It helps a LOT to watch a video rather than trying to understand written instructions. I actually really like the handle on the standard mark III but I guess that kind of thing really comes down to personal preference.

Huh? People buy guns for the white lettering? lol

If you're looking for a pistol it's better to check them out at a forum that's dedicated to that kind of thing. Rimfirecentral.com is a good one for .22s. Like anything else it depends what you want and how you want to use it but the recommendations for the Ruger and Buckmark as target/plinking guns are good ones. Both are very accurate and well put together guns.

The Federal 510 is pretty good stuff and Widners is a well-known reliable place. It's better than average good-quality ammo that's a big step up from the usual bulk stuff. While the 40 gr bullet weight has little to do with how much "punch" it has as far as ejecting it is loaded hot enough that it cycles most auto-loaders fine.

The KP512MKIII I referenced (and own) *IS* a 22/45 type, and therefore has the 22/45 grip, which I also much prefer.

Disassembly is pretty easy. It's putting it back together that is tricky the first couple of times. After that it's much easier. The Internet is full of text and video information on cleaning this pistol. I'm willing to bet that if you ask ten experienced gun dealers for advice on what new target shooting pistol (.22) to buy if low price, accuracy, and reliability are your priorities, in that order...seven out of ten will recommend a Mark III.

I have probably shot over 10,000 rounds of 510s. Very good stuff for the price.

I got them at WalMart (510b version) for $147/5000 + tax.
