thinnestwallet said:This would have been just about an ok deal 2 years ago. Right now, it's pretty pathetic. Just search for "laptop" in this forum and you'll know why."Pathetic" because of? Price? Features? As I mentioned in the OP, its main virtue over current laptops with similar specs but lower prices is that it's running XP Pro, which to some is a big deal. With that in mind, please show me a better deal.
Not pathetic but nothing excitng about it either. I don't really see XP pro as that big a deal - a lot of peole probably have a license lying around or you can get one pretty cheap nowdays. There have been a lot of deals for similar spec'd laptops in the $399-$499 range lately.
thinnestwallet - this would have been an impossibly hot deal 2 years ago: literaly impossible since DDR3 ram wasn't available for laptops until spring 2008. The hard drive alone would have retailed for $200 2 years ago.
Well Somehow Laptop makers are not bring the price down of Core2Duo and hanging on to 520---560 range. Almost all of them. I dont understand why the F... they still keep making celeron and pentium dual core when they know how to make quad and i7. Does it uses more silicon ? or are they produced by hand... Both the celeron and quads are produced by machine and uses almost same size silicon...then why the hell these intel idiots are sucking the customers so much.. On top of it these AMD guys have no other job then giving fancy name to almost same processors.. I am looking for c2D for More L2 cache in $400 range not finding one..Its alomost 4 weeks now..
