Best Buy's outlet has the BFG GTX 285 OC for $279.99 Best Buy Link to BFG GTX 285 OC

Not showing available in the store, so you'll pay shipping of at least $5.99 and sales tax as well in most areas.

If you use Paypal, you can get $20 off ($20 off $100 or more w/ Paypal), so you'll pay $259.99 + S&H + possibly sales tax

Note this is the overclocked version of the GTX 285. Average cost is about $366. These probably won't last since it is in the outlet.

Decent price, but still barely worth it considering the vicious competetion from ATI. This should be obvious considering the HD 5850 cards are near impossible to find and had prices raised temporarily because of high demand. Either Nvidia will have to continue slashing prices, or completely discontinue the GTX cards. GTX 280's are old technology compared to the ATI 5000 series, not to mention that the $249 HD 5850 card dominates all Nvidia single GPU offerings. It'd be smart to wait a little while until you can find a $249 HD 5850.

Yup, I have been waiting for the 5850 to restock. It is the second fastest single GPU card out there for a great price at $249! I would have to get a much better deal on an Nvidia card considering... Plus, DX11.

Here is the thing. Many people are loyal to either brand and some refuse to make a change. ATI has been known to have really bad drivers in the past and many people stay away from them for this very reason. I also know there are ATI Fanboi who will never change to Nvidia. This is a hot deals forum, so if this is a hot deal on a Nvidia product then that may be what some people want. When is Nvidias's next gen card rumored to come out, December? Honestly the speed crown always chages back and forth between the two depending on whose benchmarks you beleive. I see nothing wrong though with people adding this information as long as its correct so they can make an informed decision.

Will never buy another POS ATI card. EVER. Thx for posting the deal! Just wish it was available for local pickup (unavail all around me), I'd have it in my hands asap!

this or Radeon 5850?

Drivers from both ATI & Nvidia have matured to the point where it's a non-issue for either. The only differentiators I see from Nv are 3d goggles and CUDA. Performance is all ATI now

I'll never buy another ATI card and the reason is 15 years old. The problem back then was a driver issue and they convinced me they were an evil corporation forever. Not only that, the crap they pulled then is still going on today from what I've heard. Getting bought out by another company hasn't changed their way of doing business. ATI will never get another dime of my money, and if that means I have to live with inferior graphics then so be it.

Nevertheless, nvidia cards like this one are still way overpriced and I can't recommend this deal at all.

If you believe Techpowerup the R4890 is a dead heat with this card Text but is currently about $135 cheaper MSI @Newegg. $165AR and FS. I have been beta testing for FAH for years and have both of these cards and there is nothing to pick between them performance wise. This card can barely hold its own against the 5750 and loses slightly to the 5770. Price those two cards against this. Until nVidia releases Fermi they are at a very real competitive disadvantage. If Fermi pans out they should Leap Frog ATI.

Only at a disadvantage for sheep who have yet to get burned by ATI.

I bought 2 ATI 5770 card and returned both of them. Crashes often because of driver issues. Normally I would suspect my machine hardware may be incompatible, however the widepread issues and the horrible support that ensues made me place all the blame on ATI driver quality.
