Yea, these don't look that good... You can find deals like this all the time on the web... Come on Target... Deal up!
it is a 32 inch westinghouse, but I'll give it to you as a good deal. Probably $100 cheaper than you can find online right now. The real question is would you get to Target at 11 PM the day before just to score one of these, or would you rather have a 42 panny plasma for $499?
Oh dear. It looks like I made a wise decision to do my Christmas shopping online this year. So far, none of the ads have been remotely interesting. Better deals are to be found online almost all the time, and I don't have to queue in the freezing cold to use the computer...

That's the bottom line, unfortunately. Good deal? Yeah, if you walk in at 8pm on a Tuesday. But not for a five-hour wait to get into the store. And lately, Target seems to attract the most people I've seen.
The past few years, Target has had the XBox Live 1600 points cards for $15 (normally $20) on Black Friday, although it hasn't been in the ads. I wonder if they will repeat that promotion for this year?
Meh. Might buy some of the Blu-rays (2001, DK, Wizard of Oz) but those gaming deals look awful. Wasn't the Dualshock $25 at Radio Shack last year? And Cooking Mama $5 on Amazon? I guess we all got spoiled last year with $30 Dead Space from Target.

Plus it's a bottom of the barrel, can't get much worse reviews "brand". Check Amazon for pitiful reviews.
It's not worth the $248 - $10 GC in any way. These people WILL need (not just want) to buy a new set on BF 2010 due to the horrible lifespan of these it seems. So $248 this year, $199 next year = $448 == more than what you'd pay for a higher quality Samsung/Panasonic now.
When it's a Westinghouse, Polaroid, etc..., yes, it is a bad deal if it breaks outside of the warranty period. Most of these ultra-cheap HDTV's do not have any sort of parts supply or service center in the US (if it breaks during the warranty period, you usually have to exchange them for another one) and if it's out of warranty, you're out of luck and you just throw it away.

How about this one: tomtom XL340S GPS with case ($97), good deal or not. Buy another $3 stuff, you can get $10 gift card with $100 purchase.

Plus, if you need warranty service, you MUST PAY to ship the set to California.

I've had a 42 inch Westinghouse LCD that I got @ Best Buy about 4 years ago and haven't had a single problem. And considering it was an open box/return, it worked out pretty good for me. A LOT better than my Samsung 50 inch DLP that crapped out twice. I think this is a pretty good deal, the whole waiting in line through the night, kills it.

Green for OP though. Good find.
Not to mention that Amazon has done a fantastic job of matching or in some cases exceeding some of the better deals out there.

That's because you joined this site a few years ago. Once you join this site BFs no longer look so tempting.

I agree that it is just early.. My newspaper contact has some early copy but not much and the merchants are holding on their final go to press prices.
yup. Target made the newspaper. sort of. They are on cnn.com. apparently, they will have $3 appliances (coffee maker, toaster) and a 32' HDTV for $246...
"These include a Westinghouse 32-inch LCD HDTV for $246. "The $246 HDTV is the lowest price that we've ever seen for that model," said Olsen.
Also in the ad: $3 Chefmate appliances such as toasters, coffeemakers and sandwich makers; a 40-inch Apex 1080p LCD HDTV for $449 with a $10 gift card; a tomtom GPS for $97; a Garmin GPS for $179; an RCA dual-screen portable DVD player for $88; a $39 Polaroid V 130 Camcorder; 50% off on select toys; and children's clothing for between $5 to $7."
The tomtom is a good deal, but BF just is not worth it. With increased online shopping, why stand in line for a couple of bucks? I'd rather hunt down a good online deal than camp out.

Yeah, I don't foresee too many people camping out at midnight for a $3 coffee maker.

An xbox controller for $39 is not a doorbuster in any way. It's 37.49 right now on Amazon.

Got the 1TB HD with a $10 GC. Got to Target (South Philadelphia) around 3:50, the line was about 50 people strong. Hung around a few minutes and got my place in line. It was cold and drizzling so I pulled up my car to the line and just sat there for a while, then it started moving a bit so at 4:20 I parked the car and got back in line. At about 4:40 Target employees started giving out maps and bags, there was no ticketing or anything. The employees just kept assuring the crowd that there is enough of everything for everyone. At 5 they let people in and I headed straight for electronics and grabbed the hard drive. It was generally calm with just a bit of hastiness around. Two guys were tag-teaming the sale - one was pushing the cart and the other just went down the shelf grabbing one or a couple of each item and just throwing them in the cart with two TVs in it already. Got to the register and got checked out quickly but by the time I was leaving the line at the register was considerable. Went home, to sleep, plugged the hard drive in in the morning and it works great.
