Craftsman 6-amp reciprocating saw 50% off ($29.99) Sat. 11/14 7am-noon Sears Posted on the Sears facebook page, can't seem to find the model on their website though. "Black Friday NOW!" door buster item available instores 7am-noon this Saturday. Pic screenshot from FB page attached below.
Does anyone with some experience know if a 6 amp saw is good enough? because Sears sells 12 amp ones for 100 bucks. Is the extra $40 MSRP worth anything?

Good question - I was wondering the same thing, although I always laugh at amp ratings - an inefficient design would also require more power. So what are they really bragging about - a larger motor or poor design?
Probably for the energy conscious consumer not to get spike high energy bills when running the saw 24/7 < haha > Some might think it will give you a clue about torque = voltage * current .. <mostly true> but only if that thing does not emit heat like crazy ...
Good deal especially if you're going to use infrequently or for basic stuff. I bought a basic DeWalt for $70 (good deal, btw) and so far it has cost me $35 per cut.

For DYIers, this will be a good saw. You don't need 12 amp unless you are going to do some light industrially demolition. I have the B&D 18v cordless reciprocating saw and love it.
Does this model require an allen key to unscrew the screw holding the blade in, or is it the style with a quick release? I am always loosing the stupid allen key out of the clip on the power cord and have to hunt one down if I need to release the blade.
No in store pick up option for me. Shipping to NJ is $8.20. I will pass on this.

This Craftsman Reciprocating Saw contains a powerful 6 Amp motor that provides enough power to cut wood, metal, plastic, drywall and other materials. The Heavy-duty machined gearbox is all-metal and provides efficient power transmission when the tool is in use. A variable speed trigger switch and a two-finger trigger allows for precise speed and control of the blade. A pivoting, adjustable depth shoe provides added support and control and helps to extend blade life. Dual LED work lights are featured for enhanced vision while cutting. The tool-less blade clamp makes for fast and easy blade changes and conveniently holds the blade in two positions. Weighing only 6.4 lbs, the compact, ergonomic design makes it easy to use in confined spaces and the soft-grip overmold on the barrel and handle provides added comfort during use.
Picked up this item from my local (06385) Sears store. Walked in about 11:45, 15 m before sale was to end. Found a bunch of the saws at the lower level of a display -- not marked sale or anything. Nice thing (besides the 50% discount), was cashier offered me a 3-year extended warranty for a mere $4.50 extra -- I snapped that one up!
