In for one. That is a pretty good deal. I missed out on the Newegg deal last month with the Thermaltake case. I've been waiting for another good deal on these and this is the best since. They may come down for the holidays, but it is like the stock market you never know. If they get trim working on these the prices may stay steady for a while.
Looks like the price on this deal has just went up $10. I just checked to see if it went out of stock and it has already gone up to $239 AR.
I don't get the hype on these drives. 250mb/s read and 70mb/s write? I get 220mb/s and 200mb/s out of my SuperTalent SAM28GM25S 128gb that I paid ~320 for 5 months ago. Higher price per GB (2.86 vs 2.50) and less performance. I don't get it.
Might be a good deal on the drive, but IMHO the drive is just so-so in the SSD segment. Anyone looking at going to SSD from a spinning platter drive will really enjoy the speed and lowered power usage/heat....laptop users will enjoy more battery life.

The appeal isn't in the sustained read/write, it's in other factors that play a greater part in day to day usage... there's not really disagreement on this, look at reviews.
Try one! You'll throw rocks at that indillx drive! Numbers don't always tell the whole story.

At least read an article or two before posting. This G2 Smokes your supertalent drive in any given day.

Just a reminder, "Non-refundable. Exchange for defective unit(s) only."

Citation needed.
I was able to find this...seems sort of mixed to me: Sequential write performance has always been a bottleneck on the Intel drives. There's a small 7% performance improvement from the new drive, but it's still much slower than any other MLC drive in its class. Pushing higher speeds isn't an issue for the controller as the SLC X25-E actually posts our fastest numbers here.
While I don't believe that 70MB/s write speeds are terrible, Intel does need to think about improving performance here because the competition is already far better. The more important values are still random read/write performance, but sequential write speed is an area that Intel continues to lag behind in.

Those sequential read/write numbers do not tell the whole story about the performance of SSD. Real life hard drives do not always work by transferring 3GB files at constant speeds. A very important factor is the 4KB random write speed, which reflects key performance on certain real life applications that involve a large number of small write access (such as a database access). If you read the benchmark, the Intel x25 competely wipes the floor of its competitors on this test. It's not even close or anywhere close to being close. This is what makes X25 stand out among the others and what makes X25 carry its price tag. I'm sure the x25 will yield superior performance on other random read/write speeds too compared to your supertalent drive.

Thanks for the deal, it appears to be $260 now again though. Only $230 AR.
I feel fortunate - I got in on the Newegg deal with the Thermaltake case. The case is big but reasonably quiet and I like that 3 fans are included. The Intel SSD is amazing. I was able to update the firmware without issue. After entering my Windows 7 password, I get a working desktop in less than 10 seconds. Responsiveness is amazing. Very cool.

2% BCB available as well. I'll wait a little bit -- once these are at $1/GB I'll strike, I know I'll fill up an 80GB system drive too quickly.

I am hoping by the time my drive arrives they will have the firmware fixed. I can't wait to try this thing out. I am putting this in a pc and didn't buy a bracket for this. I've heard some people just tape it down inside the case.

For a SSD, you'll be waiting a while I expect, though perhaps not so long for a non-Intel branded model.
Most use the SSD for boot and programs, while the rest of the data is written to traditional drive(s). Think of it as tiering data.
I think you'll see the $1/GB next year. They want this stuff to replace HD asap since we haven't had a significant jump in HD performance like this in a long time.
Actually, the same Gen2 drive on Amazon was and still is $244 shipped and no rebates which beats this deal for those who get charged tax by ZZF.
Only problem is it's not currently in stock (but sold by Amazon, qualifies for SSS and Prime). It's not clear if ZZF has it in stock to me, but for those who want the best deal and are OK with waiting, Amazon may be a better deal.
Either way, thanks OP. Green!
Edit: also, OP, you should consider adding "80GB" to the title as X25-M comes in 160GB too.

I've been waiting for the Amazon drive to ship for a few weeks now. Does anyone know if there's a general shortage of these for some reason?

-Splints
I dont' think THEY care as much about performance as price. I think the price will be around $2/GB by next year. They are going to try to maximize profits by enticing us early adopters first. And you also have to note WesternDigital, Seagate, etc are going to drop the prices on their spinning drives to ridiculously low prices in order to try to hold of the SSD tidal wave.
The price on this thing is a roller coaster. Back to $279.99 / $249.99 AR

Yes there is a shortage in NAND in general. Doubtful prices will be coming down very soon. For a brief price analysis check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G7mReoJbrM

Thanks. I'm surprised the prices have fallen this much as it is, if there's such shortage.
I just got a gen1 of these at work and popped it into the dev machine - it rocks it hard. The performance boost is very sizable. Gen2 + Win7 + TRIM should be a winner (if it ever ships).
I'll buy these when they are a dollar a gig like the good ole' days. For $239, you can easily RAID three 80 gigs for performance/redundancy. I suppose it's justifiable for a notebook where you only have one drive.
I just bought a kingston 64 gb value ssd for $110 at frys yesterday. It is virtually silent, and I like the faster boot up time. It doesn't come with any cables or mounting brackets for desktops, but maxtor's maxblast worked fine with it to make it a new boot drive and copy all the files over.

Should have waited and purchased the 40GB Kingston V series SSD. The one you got is a Jmicron controller, and the one that I'm talking about is the Intel G2 controller.

64GB though - 40GB is quite a bit smaller.
He should have bought the Kingston 60GB one. It's only $99 and it's the new fixed JMicron controller. Stutter is a thing of the past.
