Based on my experience, you should be prepared to wait months for the rebate...If it ever shows up.. I am still waiting for mine.

I received a rebate from OCZ for some desktop RAM relatively quickly.

How many laptops that run DDR3 memory doesn't already come with 2 sticks of 1GB DDR3? This is a good deal, I just don't know how many situations this would even be useful! I have two sticks of 1 GB DDR3 from upgrading my Macbook Pro to 4GB. I can't give them away (no one with DDR3 doesn't have 2GB or more).

I can't agree more! (Maybe there is laptop out there with 4 sodimm...)
They need to make desktop boards that accept so-dimm
How about a so-dimm to dimm converter?

That's true. Plus that high frequency cannot be used in regular laptop, I think.
There are a few Apple machines that could use the 1GB so-dimms at this price. The early 2009 Mac Mini came with a stock 1x1GiB stick, the late 2009 iMacs ( those that just came out ) have 4 so-dimm slots and only 2 are populated so you could add another 2GiB for next to nothing.
