Thanks op. I41

I bought this laptop last time round. It's no thinkpad, but I like it. Pros: Windows 7 runs nice and fast. Nice bright screen. Cons: Keyboard layout takes a while to get used to. Trackpad is terrible (but to be fair, I've always used trackpoints in the past). I disabled it (easy to do with FN+F8) and I am using a wireless mouse. Neither pro nor con: it's 6 pounds, which used to feel light for a laptop but now seems pretty heavy. Build construction is pretty mediocre but not terribly flimsy.

Windows 7 really seems like a solid, mature release. It hasn't crashed on me and load times are very short.

FWIW, the email I got from Newegg about this says "Discounted prices and/or promo codes are valid till 11/19/2009."

no webcam right?

it has webcam

Ordered one. This deal did not show up when I browsed the Newegg website, but your link worked. Thanks

Is the screen glossy or matte?

The email I got from Newegg says the same thing. The page with the notebook says "Great savings on notebook replacement plans, ends 11/15(limit 5 per customer)." I read this as meaning the $400 price ends 11/15, but it's not entirely clear. Given that the notebook sold out quickly when they offered it at this price in late October, the stated expiration date may not matter.

The spec says" OS: Win XP professional"

Never mind, they just changed it to win 7.

SOLD OUT

True. It looks to be sold out already. Hopefully they will get more in stock before the deal is officially expired (whenever that is).

It's back with "ETA:11/20/2009"

any store has it for PM?

No option for wireless air card, or else I would have jumped in.

does this have firewire?

Lenovo G550-2958-HJU - $349 + tax + FS with AMEX!!!!
Just got in on this thanks to my AMEX card, so happy after my rather unpleasant trip to OD to get an MSI.

To get the deal you MUST HAVE AN AMEX CARD. I'm not sure if this will work w/ the gift cards but worth a try.

1. Go to dailywish.amexnetwork.com
2. Search the "Shop Anytime" section for Lenovo, click on the up to 40% off deal and AMEX will connect you to the Lenovo site
3. Select the G550-2958 HJU model and it to your basket, it'll be $449
4. Enter coupon code USP12EVERY to get $100 off
5. Enjoy!

Specs:
Intel® Core™ Duo T4300 ( 2.10GHz 800MHz 1MB )
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Intel Integrated Graphics X4500
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
15.6 " WXGA LED Backlight TFT 1366x768
Industry Standard Touchpad
320GB 5400
DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
6 Cell Lithium-Ion
Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless
Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR

It's my luck, couldn't find it in the Shop Anytime page. $350 would be a great price for this G550.

From SD it is looking like few or none will actually get the $349 G550. Someone apparently called in about it (MAJOR ERROR as always) and it got flagged as a price mistake

I phoned them and pointed out the price error after I got mine for $349 under a different name.

Sorry
