okay so black friday officially sucks this year.

tante said: okay so black friday officially sucks this year.

unfortunately it does. After BB wasn't great this one looks almost like the usual booklet.
The cordless toolset looks like a deal, but I'm not in the market for one.

I was really hoping for a good deal on a panny plasma. Maybe in the sub $500 range for a 42 inch.

tante said: okay so black friday officially sucks this year.black friday has become like outlet shops. no real deals, just a normal sale but with a moniker that entices people to shop. just like those store closing everything must go sales.

Why don't you look at the Dell deal a few topics up?

+1.

I think one of the reasons that BF sucks this year is that there is no "star" product. Remember those $29.99 DVD players back in 2001 (I think) or even $599 42 inch TVs a couple of yrs back. I was guessing that we would see $69 blu-ray players (or even $99.99 blu-ray players) this year, but I guess that did not happen. They are still in $125 to $150 price range...

That is what I have been looking for (cheap blu ray players)...I received this email a couple of hours ago from CircuitCity.com (I think it is owned by TigerDirect) for a Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Disc Player for $100 w/free shipping (but it is refurbished).

Linky

Yeah, I agree...and you'd think that because of the way the economy is retailers would have better deals trying to get customers to buy more. 1/2 a loaf is better than none but I guess they don't see it that way..... Maybe there will be better deals at their going out of business sales after the holidays....

Doesn't really count. Most people would much rather get a TV locally just in case there are problems. Additionally, most people don't trust UPS and FedEx residential deliverers to know or even care that a Plasma set is never to be laid on it's side / put upside down. There's a reason why a good number of plasma set's have tilt detectors built into the box.

I've been wanting a vizio flatscreen for AGES!!

I have yet to see a BF ad that makes me want to roll out of the rack at 2:00 am and stand in line to grab the deal.

The Model Number of the Blu-Ray Player is BDP-BX2 according to their website. This is a BDP-S360 with a cable according to link.

So, this is a non-deal and is readily available just about anywhere. The difference? You get a free HDMI cable.

What the price of the 55 inch LCD before the 300?

$1549 shipped. plus tax more than likely.

Retails stores traditionally lose money on the "doorbuster items". They were willing to do so because people generally came in for that and still spent hundreds of $ on other things. With consumer sentiment as it is, the retailers know that people intend to spend much less this year. If they put these low price items out there, people will buy that, and only that. Hence, you are not seeing the $400 42" TV as you might have hoped.

Anyone know how much an 8GB Sandisk Ultra CompactFlash card normally is at Costco? Could be worth picking up a few of those if the price is right.

You cannot even trust UPS to handle a box with anything fragile.

We came home last week to find a notice from UPS on the door that said they had tossed a package onto the second floor balcony. I don't know how many times the guy had to throw it 12 feet up into the air to land on the concrete deck.

When my partner took it to a UPS store to return to Newegg (a portable hard drive), the UPS people said that it should not matter if the item was well packed. He couldn't say how UPS would know that.

I used to think it was just American Express and their so-called private contractors who were so rushed to get rid of their deliveries. They would ring the doorbell, hear me on the intercom, and just leave the package on the steps. Once when nobody was home, they just threw a box of wine glasses onto the 2nd floor deck, breaking half of them.

But if the UPS guy says that they just throw boxes anyway, there isn't much of a difference.

That's why it still is necessary to pick up some things at the store like Costco

Well I would believe that if only I just had not seen the friends and family sale of one local company that was posted here yesterday.
I am on the market for an LG flat screen with HD Divx support, and 50PS80 is between 1150 to 1500 anywhere online... Adoromeda or whatever that place is called had it on sale for 900. Then the same day I saw the post for thta F&F sale for that company. They claim that for that day, they'll only put 12% profit on the items. The same plasma TV will be on sale for $779. Divide it by 1.12 and you'll see that the TV cost this retailer only $695. So if this local retailer can get this plasma tv for $695, I bet bestbuy or Sears can get a much better deal. Yet those stores are still trying to charge me $1500 and claiming their incredible 20% OFF SALE on BF will mark a huge $300 on the item...

Because we have black friday just about everyday on deal sites like FW, we are spoiled. These "normal" sales are aimed for regular shoppers who buy stuff from retail stores. Yes there are still a lot of those people.

This model is the BDP-360 version, rebadged for Costco and Sam's. It has the HDMI, but also a light-up remote that is not found on any other current Sony players. The thing is we don't know what the pre-$35 off price will be on the player that weekend. Currently, Sam's is selling the BX2 for $158.86. It could then be as low as $123 and certainly not higher than $145 should it go back to the recent $179.98 price.

costco is where its going tobe at

Thanks for the link... much better images.

I agree, deal sites have probably jaded us just a wee bit with better deals than the average Jane or Joe Doe routinely find. But, I still think the projected Black Friday deals are mediocre at best. More time for me to relax and enjoy being with my family which is not too bad a deal, is it?

Which, of course, matters only if you are believe BestBuy that you need "Gold plated premium monster cables" for $90 instead of getting a three-pack for 6$ from monoprice...

At H.H. Gregg, that would be a $100 value!

What is Garmin Nuvi 5.0 gps? It says $100 off. Can't find this GPS on costco.com or anywhere else

It's the Nüvi with the 5 inch screen. Maybe the 1490T, that's the one I know has that somewhat larger screen. Might only be in the warehose.

this place has a picture.

Agreed, businesses who throw those phony GOOB sales are garbage and immediately get shunned by me, and I tell everyone I can NOT to go to those kinds of stores. There are quite a few places around here that have been "going out of business" for a few years now. The owners of these types of businesses always tend to be not the brightest bulb in the box either, since by year 4 they usually run out of money and have to go back under the rock they slithered out from.

What is the price for 32" Vizio ? Cannot find item# 991320, 923232 on costco.com

the $25 off coupon for 16gb cruzer should be useful when I go to upgrade to Windows 7

Hopefully Amazon won't be dispointing.

This is a great deal, Costco is actually opening 2 hrs early for general members! /sarcasm

always different - ! - well most of the time, don't know why ?!

Very true. This year is going to beat last year in terms of lackluster sales for retailers over the holidays. With that in mind, no reason to stock tons of "loss leaders" when that's all people are going to buy.

These were handed out upon exiting (at least that's how I got mine).

I also received mine from the guy who checked my receipt at the exit (day before Thanksgiving). It's too bad some folks didn't get them, especially if the coupon was required for purchase.
