MSRP $100
WalMart sale price $38.86 with free shipping
3% FW CashBack reduces the total to $37.69

Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and others have tried to copy this idea, but none could match the video quality. The BBC's Planet Earth remains the one must-have Blu-Ray disc set. If you're giving someone a Blu-Ray player for Christmas, give them this set to help them show it off.

Amazon charges $41 for this set, which may or may not be cheaper, depending on your sales tax: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MRAAJM
Amazon has more than 2000 user reviews of this set; 90% of the reviews are 5 stars.

green for BBC !

I have this set. BBC version rocks. Awesome price. Won't go lower in the US prolly.

We just finished watching this on BD. Richard Att. is a brilliant narrator and the imagery is awe inspiring. Highly recommended and a bargain at this price. The Beeb sures knows how to do documentaries!

much better than the US version. US version is voiced by the chick from Alien

BBC version narrated by David Attenborough vs Us narrated by Sigourney Waver

Good deal. Even better w/ the 10% Bing CB someone mentioned in a different thread.

I LOVE Sigourney Weaver, but I must admit I own the BBC version

Good deal, but sales tax makes it $2 more than Amazon.com for me.

have both and they are a bit different - could be due to a "commercials" time allowance !

hey anyone know if barns and nobles price matches, and 10% of the difference. If so this would be a hot deal to price match. As they are selling it for 71.99. I think I am going to try this instead of buying it directly from WalMart.

By the way: Sears has this in stock, and its 79.99 there and they give back 10% difference. not much but don't have to wait for shipping. Good deal.

dang, tough call. 38.20 after 8.25% - 10% bing where I live or Amazon 40.00 OTD. To complicate things, there is a bundle with includes 'Earth Biography'. Was hoping that one would fall to this price but still $25 more.

I don't think B&N will price match. And I know Borders doesn't price match squat. They also have some of the most ridiculous prices on blurays.

Nice find OP. I wanted to get these last year and I couldn't find them anywhere for less than about $100.

Is the picture noticeably better than the DVD version?

Yes, if you have a good quality big screen HDTV.

This is probably my favorite tv series ever. My apartment has about 4 copies of this series floating around. Its aamaaazzzzingg. Get it in blu-ray if you can. If not, go out and get the dvds.

Awesome deal. Thanks.

edit: Top of page 2! Yayyyyyy!

just went with Amazon to avoid the headache as not seeing bing anywhere on WalMart at checkout. FYI, if you send your invoice to Entertainment Weekly, they're doing a promo where you buy a certain set (Planet Earth being one of them) and they'll give 2 free movie tix! limited supply tho, so hurry up!

as for the pic quality - astonishing. just wish they kept the planet earth diaries on the high def version. learning how they achieved some of these shots is as good as the show itself, and the diaries are narrated by sir david too!

If you sign up for bing Cash Back thru paypal, bing CB will give you $10 +10%off purchase value if you spend more than $25 (before shipping and taxes)on your first purchase. I ordered this blu ray that way, and WalMart gave me free shipping.

i was skeptical of the bing cb as there was no logo on WalMart checkout page. but the difference was so negligible (a few cents) between wally and Amazon coupled with free prime shipping (took 1 day!), it wasn't worth waiting 60 days for anyway. however, the $10 is cool. send your invoice to address in this last week's Entertainment weekly, and they'll also send you 2 free movie passes (up to $24 value I think).
