I just got an e-mail from the dealer saying they have a 2010 Nissan GT-R Premium for $6000 off MSRP or a lease special. I believe this is a phenomenal deal. I spoke to them & they confirm they still have the vehicle & have one more incoming by mid December. These vehicles sold for $10-$15k over MSRP for the longest time & even now certain dealers have them for MSRP.

This is not for everyone.

nice deal.. if only my wife would let me.

yep, if you got the cash, go for it.

I'd DEFINITELY check the odo. I've seen alotta salesmen driving around new "trial" cars...

What a sexy car... I heard these GTRs don't have a manual transmission option. I just wouldn't feel right driving such a sporty and fast car that isn't stick !!!

Maybe... if the price is right

I like this post, not so much for today but for the future when I can get one of these for about $30,000 or so (used obviously). I guess these cars aren't quite as exlusive as the automotive press said they would be.

This has the same type of auto (manual/paddle shift) transmission as my G37S. Provides a decent compromise between the pro's of both. Remember this is a 2010 model...things have changed a little from the days of '69 428 Cobra Jet 'stangs..

Quite a few performance cars still offer manual transmission though. Even the Sport 6MT version of your G37 has it. I'm just sayin, it would be nice if they offered this for the GTR.

Many Ferraris and Lambos are the same way. Hell, even the Bugatti Veyron, currently the fastest production car in the world, is only offered with an automated manual.

I don't want to get off topic but the dual clutch in the GT-R is not the same as the automatic with paddle shifters in the G37. Oh and great deal for those with the means (not me )!

heheh... wonder if gas prices will go up...

Heh, I'm sure it's due to "customer spec" - there's probably a lot of people who prefer the newer tech or auto stuff. More so than the manual "purists"

Ehhh, I'm just one of the weird ones who actually likes manual. I've been driving an automatic clunker for the longest time after my stick broke down. So sad...

This is so your wife can drive it and it can serve as a "family car" too.

Correct. Its not even close. Most people dont realize that F1 cars have similar paddle setups. The good ones can shift much faster than even the best driver can with a regular manual transmission.

LOL. yeah, when she needs to go to the supermarket a block away.

3pm: "Honey, I'm going to pickup some crutons from the store. I'll be back in 5."
4pm: "Wow, it turns out they were out of stock on the crutons! So I had to go to like 4 other stores in the area and they still didn't have them!"

Yes, I am fully aware that these two models do not share the same transmission units. The point I was trying to make was the concept is the same (i.e. auto with paddle shift "manual" mode) with roughly the same performance ability/times as the pure manual model.

wonder if they'd consider a straight up trade for my '98 Maxima. hell, i'll even give them a full tank of premium!

Ask them about the "cash for clunkers" program

Other statements of the obvious:

- You won't live forever
- Taxes and fees extra
- Your mileage may vary

If only that one is white

If you are in the market for one of these, gas prices is the last thing you would be worrying about.

they def sold for about $10-15k over last year, even. i remember getting $10k off my pathfinder while some guy was paying $10k more for his gt-r

The fact is that sport tranmissions (VWs DSG, BMWs SMG2, Porsche's PDK, etc) shift much faster than a racecar driver can. Still, I prefer the manual for low maintenance, a little weight savings, and the ability to hold the gear that I want for as long as I want. I expect we'll see the end of the manual transmission for sporty cars in the next 10 years or so unfortunately.

Which Northern California dealer is offering this deal? Thanks.

Never mind. It is from Concord.

insurance is crazy expensive for the GT-R

Tell me why you would care if you're buying a car upwards of 100k.

6000? that's not even 10% off.

Why would one spend 100k on something that has Nissan slapped across the front is a better question I've seen cars that cost less than half that will outrun it. I guess the point is to buy something turn-key stock that has all the speed but still.. can pass smog laws with flying colors with some of the modded yet reliable stuff that is out there these days (ah nope i'm not talking about modified imports afaik, those seem to go poof if you add too much boost to them). But it is a cool looking car anyway, I saw it at the auto show last year. Kinda odd that there are no Acura NSX any more yet something like this comes out of the woodwork. Honda was going to build a new NSX with a 10cyl mid mounted engine and scrapped the whole project. So much for "Japan's super car" I guess.

While I am also sad that the GTR doesn't have a manual option, the automatic shifting can shift faster than any human can. Therefore, I can offer an exception for the GTR

I think the issue with "manual option" is the challenge in shifting fast - I guess the question is "Do you want to work at shifting faster, or do you want to have your work cut out for you?" I guess there's some reward [for a handful out there] in knowing you got a faster track time on the 2nd or 3rd lap because you were tighter on the stick.

Godzilla IS "Japan's super car"

this is one sweet ride

The GT-R is is one of the fastest cars to ever go around the Nurbugring. Id be willing to bet that you couldnt build a street legal, reliable car to beat it around that track for less money.

I like the EPA Class: SubCompact

Don't mean to crap on your post, but which car do you
know of that costs under $45K, has a top speed of 193mph,
can do 0-60 in as little as 3.2s, and a quarter mile in
about 11.5 seconds? Now, I'm not saying one does not exist,
but I'm not aware of any.

IMO, I really do not think you can get a faster all-around
car for the price (top speed, acceleration, cornering, etc.)
The GT-R is a BEAST!

If its attention you want from ladies you should go for a VW bug or a Mini. The only reason they are looking though is because they all want one!!!
