I thought this had been around for awhile, and people were buying refill cards and having trouble getting the bing ... I'm glad the topic is back, so perhaps people who did the refill card deal can comment on any final outcomes with bing. tyop.

You beat me to the same question.
Can it be used to purchase a $100 Prepaid Refill card?
And have those in the past actually gotten back their 35% Bing CashBack?
Cool that this happened, though. We're switching over to T-Mobile (mainly due to the my favorites thing to take advantage of the Google Phone calling), and we were waiting for a deal.

My favorites (my faves) is no longer available as a plan.
My 12 year old uses a T MObile pre-paid so I ordered the well documented deal for a Nokia flip phone last week @ 19.99 with a $25 time card bonus plus 35% Cash Back ...$13.00 for Phone and $25 worth of time. I was thinking I would just keep the phone as a spare but had I though about it for a I would have ordered four of them ...got the $100 worth of time for $52 and sold the phones. They are out of stock at the moment but the deal comes up a lot.

Forgive me if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find an answer on Howard Forums so I thought I would ask it here.
I was looking to pickup a blackberry 8520 from eBay for my girlfriend (I'm on ATT iPhone), so I'm wondering if I can buy the 8520 for $350 on the "Even More Plus" plan, and then cancel the plan after a month so I have the phone free and clear?
I know it says "no contract" but I just don't want to get suckered into some random ETF fee when I'm already paying full boat (-35%) for the phone.

you can't unless you buy a phone.

I have the same question here. Does Bing CashBack work for pre-existing customers. Apparently, you have to log into your account to actually purchase the phone without selecting a plan on the website. Logging in may ruin the Bing CashBack process. I couldn't see another way to do it.
Question is whether Cash Back works for those buying new phones with their pre-existing plans... the alternative is to buy a new phone with new plan and then attempt to port the old tmobile number to the new plan (and that seems like a hassle anyways plus they may not let loyal customers do that anyway).

The other thing is that if you try to buy a new phone with an existing contract, they don't permit you to pay directly with a credit card. So the phone is added to your next bill. It sounds like there are a lot of ways that this could get screwed up before Bing has a chance to give CashBack.
What do you guys think of this: I ordered an HTC TP2 for ~$200 after 35% Cash Back from Bing...with no voice plan (unlimited data only @ $40/mo., 2-yr contract). If this works (already got order confirmation), do you think it's a good deal for someone in T-Mobile's 3G coverage zone who has no need for voice services? I can't find a cheaper data-only deal from any other 3G provider, and I can find no ~$50 or free phone w/contract option without an expensive voice plan attached (Verizon, etc.)...I want it for tethering and mobile entertainment/web purposes only.

i emailed Bing about uprading phone on T-Mobile website and putting the cost on your T-Mobile bill (the only apparent option) and got the following response:
We are sorry for the confusion you have experienced with the CashBack program. According to Bing's Terms of Use, section #28 (http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=tou&mkt=en-us&FORM=CBHT06), "You may earn CashBack savings on purchases that you complete in the same web browsing session (not to exceed 24 hours)." This means that in order to be eligible for CashBack purchases, you will need to pay for your purchase within the same web browsing. With this saying, any items where you get billed after 24 hours of your session do not qualify for CashBack rewards. We apologize for the inconvenience.
anyone know if i bought a phone @retail (no contract) and 'added' a new line what the charges would be if i immediately cancelled the line but kept the phone??

Based on several different internet message boards, it appears to be hit and miss. Apparently one needs to get a "handset order form" and then ask Bing to credit. But this apparently only works in some cases.
if you click through from Bing and order a phone even with one of the new NO CONTRACT phones, the CashBack insignia appears in the checkout cart where you can pay for the phone with a CC. problem is if you are already a T-Mobile customer and sign in to buy a new phone for your existing line, they automatically add the price of the phone purchase to your monthly account. also, i don't see the Cash Back insignia in the cart. so it appears that you must sign up for a new line and cancel next day to get the phone with Cash Back.

Anyone knows how to activate 9.99 mobile phone (bought from Radio Shack) with time bought from T-Mobile online? I am really hoping I can save 35% CB on initial charge needed to activate.

One would need to additionally port their old number (before cancelling the old contract) and lose out on any grandfathered services.
Also noticed that if you tried to purchase an upgrade to your pre-existing phone after logging in for getting a BB Bold 9700, they charge you $50 more. It's $200 instead of $150. Then they charge you a half-activation fee of $18. And they charge you shipping too. So even though they have no acquisition costs, you still have to pay more than a new customer.
T-Mobile is great for continuing loyal customers...

looks like you need to buy phone like you are a new customer and sign up for new service without a contract. so a BB Bold would cost $400 with no shipping. you would then cancel the new service possibly eating an activation charge of $35 and possibly a few days of service. BUT, you would collect $140 back from Bing. i will probably do this to replace one of my phones on my no contract family plan. also, there is a $50 rebate for recycling the old phone. so 400-140+35+~8-50=$253 + tax on the 400.

Just fyi, I attempted to exactly this. But instead, T-Mobile tried ruin the deal. Here's what happened. I bought a new family plan with 2 handsets and figured I'd get the CashBack. However, on the final invoice page, a miraculous manipulation of the charges showed up. One of the handsets was priced as expected, but the other one dropped to zero. In it's place, a new monthly charge for voicemail was tacked on at the price of the handset! So I ended up with a $450/month charge for voicemail. Go figure...
Now as you know, if T-Mobile makes any changes to your bill or invoice, CashBack is invalidated! So T-Mobile makes you think you're getting a deal, if you don't notice their error, then you call back a month later when you get your bill and change the way its priced, they nail you. Or otherwise, you end up paying $450/month extra.
Here's what I got on my invoice (copy & pasted):

Hats off to Bing. Despite T-Mobile's attempts to incorrectly charge me, Bing and Microsoft managed to still get it right according to a Bing email confirmation I just received.

Or why not one notch it and just cancel the even more plus plan and keep the phones for free? Since you have an invoice they really cant charge you for a phone they gave to you for free. Also, since you are on your 14-day buyers remorse period and have no contract you can cancel and keep the phones and they cant charge you for anything.
I just use the link for BING Cash Back. DID NOT work. Connect with BING. They asked for receipt. Call T-Mobile. They refused to give any kind of receipt. LOST. Anyway, If you needed, make a copy by yourself. BE CAREFUL to play this kind of game. Form T-M: Dear X,

Hello X,
Thank you for contacting Bing CashBack Customer Support! This is XXXX. I will continue assisting you with Service Request XXXXXXXXXX regarding your missing CashBack.
I apologize for any confusion this process may have caused. Thank you for the information you have provided. Unfortunately, the order confirmation that you sent is in an invalid format. Sometimes, when an order confirmation is copied than pasted, it can lose certain authentication information. Emails from merchants usually contain the company's logo, graphics, imbedded website links, and other information verifying the email originated from that specific merchant. In order to fully research your issue I will need that original order confirmation from T-Mobile as an attachment (preferably a .pdf, .docx, .jpg, .zip, or .eml file). Your order confirmation must show the price of each item purchased, the date of purchase, order number, subtotal, tax, shipping costs, and any discounts on the order. This documentation is necessary to authenticate your online purchase from T-Mobile. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
Thank you, X, for contacting Bing CashBack Customer Support.
Warmest regards,
XXXX

Your copy DOES NOT work, but T DOES NOT give any this kind of confirmation, but a free message telling you your balance without any information as BING asked.
Any way, you will response for your risk. I do not think you have enough time to talk with them.
I am going through this same bullshit as well. They are trying to weasel their way out of paying me. I went through the Bing link and never deviated from the tab I was on until I purchased it. I did not see a Bing logo, but that shouldn't matter at all because I was in their site. Still trying to work this out. Will let you know how it goes.
Karuto said: I am going through this same bullshit as well. But no receipt or anything for me. After 5 days, nothing in my Bing account. I contacted Bing by e-mail. All I could provide was my CC billing info (last 4-digits of my CC, Merchant Name, dates, transaction verification code, etc.). After another few days, my Bing account was credited with the 35% CB. But what a pain.
