Just FYI: Consumer Reports had Maytag listed as the highest number of repairs.
You should do some research on this model before you buy.

I don't think the men in the old commercials are bored any more.

I did a search by model #'s and nothing turned up except one older post.

Agreed, that may explain why there is over a $400 savings for the pair.
However, on The Home Depot site the Washer has 4.4 out of 5 stars and the Dryer 4.7 out of 5.

Why is there a "trick"? They show $299 and $279 respectively before adding them to the cart. :confused:

Sorry, there is a slight trick. If you were to purchase each item seperately and use coupon code UPROM22
You would save an additional $10 for each item. Bringing the final total price to $558 for the pair.

Beats me too, I just added them both to my cart and its free shipping.....

Perhaps here's why they are discounting the heck out of Maytag products:
==========================================================================
While I can't speak for their washer/dryer units, I can tell you a bunch about how they treat their customers:

Whirlpool does not stand behind their products at all.

Whatever you buy, don't let yourself get fooled by Maytag (Whirlpool). The Maytag repairman is definitely NOT a lonely guy any more.

I have had a litany of trouble with my $700 Maytag dishwasher that you've seen described by others as well. My list includes:

- Racks that fall apart since the plastic they used can't handle the heat;
- Broken latches -the second one is about to break (just broke after a year) the same way again;
- Parts from manufacturing left in the pump to grind away;
- Parts from the disintegrating interior that get into the pump and grind away;
- Stainless steel that isn't even close to stainless;

The latest?: the "gummy-worm" material they use for a gasket seems to dissolve in water over time. So now, when my $700 Maytag dishwasher is moaning and groaning away making more noise than two Bosch would, it is also leaking all over the kitchen floor.

Actually, that's no longer "the latest". Now the silverware basket is disintegrating, and knives fall into the spinning sprayer, stopping it. Needless to say those loads have to be run again since nothing gets clean.

My biggest complaint isn't any of these issues though. Just like General Motors the biggest problem this company has is the way they treat their customers after the sale. I've called and complained (I don't yell and scream) since we bought this thing, and got excuse after excuse until the warranty ran out. After the warranty ran out I was told "sorry, you're out of warranty, we can't help you". In my final talk with CS, I was finally offered a concession: A coupon to buy another Maytag to replace the one I've had constant problems with! What a slap in the face. How stupid am I?

Well, I can tell you this landfill-candidate will be replaced by a Bosch ASAP so I guess I only fall under the "fool me once" category.

most people rate their equipment within 3 months of buying it. generally it takes a bit longer for the stuff to break down.

I have a Maytag washer & dryer (not these models - Bravos series) that I have owned for a year now. They both continue to perform excellently - in fact, beyond my expectations. It's just like any other product - I would imagine that for as many people who have had a lemon, there are just as many of us out there who have not.

I just got back from my local HD (Florida) after taking a look at the washer and dryer in the store. This combo is a BF special that is good until the end of the month. If you have a HD local to you just go into the store and pay ... you get free shipping to your house and free removal of your old units.
