Visiting my local WalMart today I noticed that they still have 2 Panasonic Viera 1080P Plasma 46" TV's available.
These items were leftover from the Saturday sale on November 7th where they were originally priced at $788 + tax.
The price has since dropped $90 to just $698 + tax now.
I don't know whether this is a nationwide price reduction or only locally, clearly YMMV!

The U1 is a generation behind the S1, with lower contrast ratio and no AR coating, but at $698 thats still a pretty good deal!

good looking out!

It's not a generation behind the S1, it is a level below the S1. It has their new, low power panel, but has a lower contrast and no AR coating as miscrms mentioned. I have the P42U1, and I can say it is an amazing display. If you can find the S1 at a good price, the AR coating would be nice, but the U series doesn't disappoint.

I just picked this up today at my local WM. They had 5 left in stock priced at $698. They could not price match the WM in Kentucky (somebody else in the forums mentioned picking one up for $588) since I live in Wisconsin and our laws do not allow that. However, I was able to speak to the store manager and get 10% off, dropping it down to $628.20. Not bad considering Amazon has it listed for $829.99. I couldn't be happier with the picture and sound, the set is amazing. BTW, these are the ones that were on sale from the November 7th deal, so they're trying to clear out the stock. It's a great deal if you're local WM has any left.

What I also find amusing is that BB currently has the 42" of this model on sale for $799.99. They also have the, next step up, 46" TC-P46S1 model on sale for $1299.99. So the way I look at it, I paid $671.79 LESS for the same size TV, and only one model down. Wow.

I have a 42 ihch Panny plasma that was bought 11 months ago. Love most everything about it, but absolutely hate the heat that comes off the screen. You can physically feel the heat emanating from it when standing near or walking by it. It doubles as a room space heater in the colder months...lol!

Anyone else have this problem?

EDITED for el typo!

Just scored one at my local WalMart. Beats the crap out of going out on Black Friday, and I'm not at all sure that I would find a better deal.
