NitroPDF has a Thanksgiving special offering NitroPDF 6 at $69 instead of the regular $99 price. If you've used earlier versions, version 6 really tops Adobe Acrobat at $450 list.(Even an upgrade costs $159 on Adobe.com). This is not a totally rare discount but if you need it, now's the time to get it. You won't likely see it cheaper without shuffling through half the Internet.

If you aren't interested in a purchase and have limited needs, on the same page (on PrimoPDF.com) NitroPDF has introduced a new and totally free service. They claim to be able to convert any text files you have into PDF without downloading a thing. All you do is upload your text file and back comes your document in PDF format via email. Haven't tried it but it sounds almost magical.

Not nearly as good as the free key I got last week.....

Why pay $69 when it is often FAR at Frys/Frys.com.

free is way better, do not pay for this, I got ver 5 free from frys earlier this year and again ver 6 free from the ups promo last week. just hold out, it will come around again.

You can find it free after rebate---so bad deal.

It's not compatible with 64 bit

PDF Creator is another good free alternative for Windows
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

It shows up as a printer so you can print to PDF from any application.

2nd on the PDFCreator suggestion. Been running it for a few years, and with all the features (all without nag-screens, advertisements, or 'phone-home' marketing-ware buit-in) and stability, it's hard to justify anyting else.

Only 'gotcha' is there is a checkbox to 'uncheck' to avoid a browser add-in.

The real point of using Acrobat or NitroPDF is that you can edit existing PDF docs and I do it all the time. Gather information from multiple PDFs and combine them into one document, deleting pages you don't want. Redact information from a PDF (like I had to submit a credit card statement to a company recently to provide proof of purchase, I downloaded my statement PDF from my CC company, opened it in Acrobat, and permanently blacked out all the text I didn't want them to see like account numbers, saved it and sent it). You can make minor edits to the document or add comments directly into the document during a review. Add passwords and other security features into a PDF. There are many reasons why a simple free PDF creator may not fit your needs (although if one does, I recommend cutepdf).

I ordered NitroPDF (FAR) recently for my laptop, I use Acrobat Pro on my desktop. Honestly I haven't had time to install it to test it, but it is pretty well reviewed. According to their website, version 6 is in fact compatible with x64 despite what ChiefBrody says. It is currently available again free after rebate from Frys.com during their Black Friday sale. I got my rebates promptly. If you are willing to float $75 for a while, I think it is a good deal if you want or need to edit PDFs: http://www.frys.com/product/6046838
