I JUST CALLED AND THEY ARE STILL HONORING THIS SALE, I DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO ASK ABOUT IT. THE WOMAN SAID IT WOULD BE LASTING A FEW MORE DAYS

I haven't had my XM activated for about year, so I got a letter that stated they were having a free 2 week trial for 60 of their channels commencing 11/17 - 11/30.

The letter then states at the bottom that if you sign up for a prepaid 5 month subscription you will receive all 170 channels for $19.99 (plus tax I imagine) - must sign up by 12/15/2009. Limit 4 subscriptions per account. Must cancel before the subscription is up to avoid the automatic monthly renewal.

Figured this wasn't a bad deal since the normal monthly cost is $12.95. And I assume that once the the initial 5 months are up you could negotiate another deal.

I know with XM its all about calling the right number, so if you are a current subscriber I would atleast give it a try.
CALL 1-877-296-0323 - maybe tell them you had multiple accounts, this one wasn't activated and you want to take the limit of 4 and activiate them all for the $20. Worth a shot right??
Tell them the letter was from Joe Zarella - Chief Service Officer. Dated Nov. 4th.

ENJOY!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!

Its a great deal, I just picked it up after my $77/year ended.

Anyone else getting the feeling that XM is grasping for straws while they sink under water? IMHO they days of satellite radio are numbered, which is unfortunate for those who travel a lot.

rated:

The feeling actually goes a lot further than just XM...All those companies, that had the pirate attitude, way overpaid for content, licensing fees and reeediculous salaries believing that we had unlimited booty to raid,,,,har-de-har good riddance!

Skeeeerew U! Some of us that have very limited radio options due to location depend on XM for just about all radio content. You must not be in that situation.

I like XM, but what has made them lose suscribers is that after the merger, they raised family plan account costs, began charging a premium fee for online access, and then shortly after that started charging additional royalties fees. I let my 2nd radio expire recently and got the same email as the OP. Since I have also been out of work since last December, I rarely drive my car, anyway; however, I'll probably reactivate on this deal IF the job for which I recently interviewed comes through.

Actually it went out in the 1980's. MP3 players have no commercials, no deejays, no constant and annoying repeating of channel names and numbers, no loss of signal in tunnels, and portability to move it between car, home, or while walking. There are millions of podcasts you can download, and all for free.

Solution = Computer + MP3 player + no monthly fee.

No, they should be able to keep restructuring their debt now that the credit markets are healthier. Sterns contract ends next year, hopefully they won't be so stupid with their money again.

sure! But since you're the one who's been bending over & taking it all this time, let's keep it that way!

I got the same letter as a former Sirius subscriber. I also get the feeling that they may be going under, but I think I'm going to gamble with $20 for 5 months. Hopefully they make it at least 3 months or so

rated:

I got the e-mail for one of my three deactivated radios even though I still have two. I'm going to switch my personal to the $20 (I had the last three months free). I have to drop the best of sirius though.

The $20 price has been around for awhile in this thread...

I got on this deal last month and last week they billed my CC for another 12 bucks. I have to call and ask them why

rated:

Good deal. I love xm. Only place I get to hear good radio shows like O and A, now that regular radio has run them and every other good show off the air.

I'm on my 3rd year at $77/yr after calling as each year was expiring. I travel a lot and really listen to only 2 stations along with baseball, basketball, football (college)... To me, even just listening to sports and 2 channels it's STILL well worth it. However, I agree with a previous poster's response... It was absolutely absurd to start charging for online access and REALLY upset me. As soon as XM stops honoring the $77 price, I'm gone. Also, the a la carte options are way over priced for content that I will live without. Just my 2 cents

My 2 year deal on 3 radios expired this weekend, so I called today and the evasion tactics were unreal. The salesgal started with the costs and I asked how that compared with what I had paid last time. She explained at first just the $2/month per radio increase which I noted still didn't cover the difference. Then she answered about the "loyalty fee" of another $2/month per radio.

I like the service, but not that much.

Anyone know what the deal is on multiple radios?

rated:

I called 1-877-296-0323 as stated above. After 5 minutes of questions I was transferred to a very nice woman in the retention department in Iowa. I stated that I wanted to cancel both of my radios because I did not want to pay the new high prices they wanted to charge. She said I could extend my $77 deal for each radio for one more year. I then said I had a friend that paid $19.99 for 5 months. She then offered me that deal for each radio. I now have it on both radios for another 5 months. I had each radio subscription expiring on different days this month by 21 days. She then credited me what ever amount that was available had I canceled today. I then paid about $34 for 5 months for 2 radios starting today and both radio subscriptions will expire the same day.

I gave up on XM after the few channels I like had me thinking I was still listing to regular radio.

A commercial for XM is still a commercial

I found I could do as well going to Winamp player and using shoutcast or other methods to find 1000's of free
programs online that offered nearly the same.

If you travel and using the net doesn't cost you extra you could stream some of the shoutcast or other free
links to your computing device. Local radio stations in NYC or other places where the big game is on might
be streaming it for their local listeners and you would only have to clik on their stream to hear it.

XM to me is worth about $7 a month max.

blah blah blah blah blah blah

XM to me is worth about $7 a month max.

So you're going to threadcrap a deal that lets you have it for less than $7 a month?

rated:

just signed up for this. They said you have to call 30 days in advance to cancel, so set a reminder for April 24th. This deal goes till the 31st of Dec.

rated:

Great experience with a rep that offered this promo with the royalty fee at $23.05.
Not taxed in California -- not yet.

I have 3 XM Radio's that had service that was going to expire this month. At first I was offered $77 a year for each radio or I would pay $20 per radio for 5 more months of service. I told the customer rep that both deals were too expensive. So I was offered $183 a year for all three radio's. I told them they'd have to do better. They finally said they could give me all three for $131 for a year of XM service and I agreed. That comes to less then $4 per radio a month...now that was a good deal!

rated:

Much thanks for the 1-877-296-0323 number. I am an existing customer, called and said I wanted the 5 month, $19.99 deal and they said no problem. Beautiful.

rated:

I just bought a new car with (only 3 months of free XM included). Should I be able to get deals like this when it comes time to pay up? I never really had any interest in XM but must admit it's very nice.

rated:

I was able to get 5 months for $23.95
I told them I received a flier with the promo code WINBACK and I was able to get the 5 months for a very low price. They also threw in a deal of $12.95 off if I supply my credit card on the account. The catch - if I don't call before the end of the billing period (i.e. 5 months) and cancel or renew, they bill me for a full year ($169). So, I just need to be sure to call them before the end of the 5 month period. The customer rep did confirm that they are always having "deals" and the buy 6 months / get 6 months free is always available - that comes out to $77 for a year, not a bad deal either... Don't pay full price for XM Radio when they have all these deals !!!

rated:

Is there a way to get Internet access with this deal? I think the $77/yr deal includes Internet.

rated:

I just called to cancel, my year at $77 was up, and I was offered the 5 months for $23.05. This supposedly will also keep my online account active and included at that price. So, it's still good everyone!

I wanted to share my Experience on getting the $77 for a second time. I called and spoke with a general customer care rep and told her the monthly service was TOO expensive. I told her I only listened to two stations and didn't want to renew my account for the $15 a month. She said she couldn't offer any promotions and I told her I reluctantly would need to cancel service. She sent me to a retentions rep who asked what she could do to help. I told her the same thing. This is key, the first rep you speak to won't offer anything. The retentions rep will be able to offer you the DEALS!

AAAAnd...Once I said I wanted to cancel, it only took 5 seconds before she offered me two retention offers:

1. 5 months for $20.
2. Half off for an entire year or $77 (plus royalty fee of $11)

For those of you wanting to stick it out for the entire year, go for the $77 deal. It is better in the long run. Plus this was TOO easy. She told me specifically to do this same thing next year to get the same deal.

Do these deals include the streaming feature or do you need to pay extra for that?

gotta pay extra. Though, they may give you a free 30 day trial.

Is it true that Howard Stern still isn't avail on internet stream?

Actually, in the yearly $77 thread it seems like some people have been able to get the Internet thrown in. I figure if I can get that, I won't have to sign up for MLB Radio at $20/year (assuming that the streaming option includes MLB games).

rated:

I got the 19.99 for 5 months but they keep sending me invoices with $2 added per statement! I paid online and will now probably have to deal with a $4 balance when its time. Any idea if one can negotiate service for an additional tuner? I have a home ent system too, but right now only use the service in the car... . THx.

rated:

I just used the $77 deal for one year for what they use to call "Best of Sirus with XM," I think he called it "Best of Everything on XM" - I was charged an additional $11 for music royalties.

The deal is still active and a heck of a lot better than the Indian from India wanted to charge me on the same package for $250+ a month.

I suspect they are not allowed to tell the price packages they have and you have to come up with the prices you find, such as Fatwallet.com before they give you that price.

Thanks fellow posters! My wallet appreciates you!

My 5 months for $19.95 was set to expire March 31st so I called to see what the current rate was. The CSR said it would be $14.95/month to continue and I told her I guess I'd have to cancel because that was just too much. She then transferred me to somebody else to cancel who offered me the 5 months for $19.95 again. So now I'm good until August 30th! She also said to just call back in and tell them I can't afford it and should have no problem getting this deal again. Thanks, FatWallet! If I hadn't seen on here to call and try, I would've just canceled. Love FW!

I just got the 5 month for $23.05 deal. Had to wait on hold for about 10 minutes after I selected cancel from the voice menu, but CSR was very nice and easy to deal with. She asked why I was going to cancel and if I liked the service, then offered me the 1 year for $88 promo. I told her I might not have this vehicle for a year and it still was too much money, and asked if she had a promo for 6 months. She said she had one for 5 months at $19.95 plus fee. I said okay, I'll take the 5 months. She set my account up for the 5 months good til August 18th, and said call back then and see if there is a new promo. I just wish there was a promo deal that included Best of Sirius. I would pay $88 a year if it included Sirius and Howard Stern. FWIW, I had the $77 deal last year when I got my XM radio. Next month I got to call Sirius and see if I can get this deal on my second Sirius radio sub.

Is this correct? Everything I've read, the 1 year discounted rate was $77. Hope they aren't trying to push through an increase on that.

no hassle at all. re-upped for another 5 months on one of my radios for the $20 promo. csr dude offered it to me right after i said i wanted to cancel. i actually would have had i gotten any higher of an offer since i've got pandora everywhere i go

rated:

I also just received the 5 months for $20 offered to me when I went to cancel. However, when the CSR offered me the deal, I said I still wanted to cancel because I use the XM online more than the XM radio in the car. So, she threw in the XM online for free.

Deal is still on, just got another five months for 23.05. First deal I got with them was the year for $77, then did the 5 months for 23.05 and got the five months a second time for the same price. It is worth 4 bucks and some change a month, but I would not pay $12.99 a month for it.
