I always add a letter or two to the address. ..and I don't have a virtual cc. Maybe you can tell us all how to get one?

I was able to get a new 4-week trial by using my work address. Can I log in to my account and change it to my home address, or will BB flag my account since I've already used my home address for an earlier trial?
UPDATE: I tried changing it, but it recognized it as an address that had already been used. I worked around it by repeating my address on the "Address Line 2" line

By spelling your address slightly differently, you can trick the system into thinking it's a new address. For example: Street, Streeet, Streett, Strreet will all be read as unique.

i hated their 6 week trial. their service is not worth the effort (plus they _did_ charge me aftyer 2 weeks and I am having to dispute the charge). i got more movies on a one at a time Netflix.

Thanks for the tip on virtual CC incase I forget to cancel. I totally forgot about it!
A tip on address.
Instead of [123 XYZ ST, APT A], I used [123-A XYZ ST]. BB warned me that this is not a standard USPS address, but I know my mailman delivers it right.

Can you elaborate? Do they make it a pain to cancel?
I was able to get another 4-week trial by making my address "Wayy" instead of "Way." Then I went back and changed it to "Way" and it still gave me the four-week trial. I also used a new e-mail address and a new credit card.
Interestingly this is more like a 32 day free trial rather than a 4-week. I signed up today (on Christmas Day) and it said my rental period was from December 25, 2009 to January 25, 2010 and my next billing date (after free trial) was on January 26, 2010. Not a bad deal for free...one month of 3-out-at-a-time and 5 in-store exchanges. Thanks OP. I think when the free month is over I will keep it, but I will downgrade to one or two-out-at-a-time instead. Perhaps when I threaten to cancel they will give me some retention offer that is good.
By the way, here is another way to get a free month of Blockbuster Total Access (borrowed from SD):
I got a gift card for Christmas and in that gift card, it comes with $25 that I can use to rent movies or games at the store and it also comes with a free month of blockbuster online. It states you get the 3 dvds 5 in store exchange plan, so for a freebie, it isn't bad.
All you have to do is sign up through this link: http://www.blockbuster.com/gc8
It doesn't ask for any promo code at all.
I only wish I could pay for Blockbuster Online by using their gift card. I have a $40 Blockbuster gift card I want to use up.
EDIT: I now see that you CAN pay by Blockbuster gift card:
Have a Gift Card?
Enter gift card information here and click apply. The total value of your gift card(s) will be applied to your subscription billing, then we will bill your credit card or PayPal account.
I had Netflix before in the household I used to live. Then I moved and got this 4-week trial Blockbuster offer. I can easily say that Netflix is better. For me here are the reasons:
1-With Netflix you receive movies faster 2-With Netflix you have more independent/foreign movies choices 3-With Netflix you can stream movies (yes not the BEST choices but pretty darn good) 4-With Blockbuster you may receive more scratched Blu-Rays/DVDs than Netflix (two nights ago we had TWO SCRATCHED Blu-Rays that we had to skip some chapters and kinda ruined the movie) 5-With Blockbuster you will have movies in your queue with "Long Wait" / "Short Wait" vs. Netflix "Now" for the same movies. (I still have online access to the Netflix account where I used to live so I checked)
We never used store exchange with Blockbuster either.
I will cancel Blockbuster and sign up for Netflix. If only they had a 4-week trial offer like Blockbuster
I ethically can't do it as I have already signed up and my wife has used the service once. Has anyone asked if BB is fine repeat customers using the promotion? Free Trials. From time to time, in BLOCKBUSTER Online's sole discretion, BLOCKBUSTER Online may offer a free trial period to first-time customers, limit one per household and/or Payment Method provided.

Summary They're both good, and the best use of them is to play the one against the other. This is particularly true where TV series' are concerned. Some, like me, prefer the security of being able to return their movies to the store. And those of us with Dealpass accounts understandably prefer BB because of the 20% discount (13.60/mo. as opposed to 17.00 for the 3-Out Mail Only plan).

Who said anything about PC? There are plenty of TVs & Blu-Ray that will stream Netflix seamlessly.

Here are your answers.
1- We both agree. This is very important actually but it is not like Blockbuster's shipping/delivery takes forever. It is maximum two days later than Netflix according to my experience.
2-I am giving you three independent movies from Netflix and I would like you to see if they have it on Blockbuster. I only looked for few minutes to find them. Also you can watch some of them via stream.
Movies are: 1000 Journals Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance Room 666
3- I have a DVD player that can stream Netflix movies so, I can watch it on my TV. My DVD player can also stream Blockbuster movies (unfortunately not free!) I also would not mind watching on my laptop in my hotel room when I am away from home.
4- During our five months of Netflix membership, we had zero problems with the quality of DVDs. However, during my 3 weeks of membership with Blockbuster, we had two movies in a row that were scratched. I agree with you I should not have generalized this but what would someone think if they had my experience?
5- Second time we agree, surprise! This one actually is the most important thing for me. You want to watch a movie and they tell you to wait to watch it. 2-3 days of wait is okay but I still have new and/or old movies in my queue with the same long/short wait messages. This is very irritating.
One more thing, I compared both companies with their online-renting services. Obviously, I do not want to go to the store every time to rent a movie. Sometimes it is fun but not enough to give up online renting.
I gave Blockbuster another try. Free month is free month after all. They disappointed from the start. My first two 'shipped' movies I never even received. They magically both were checked back in three days after supposedly shipping. Their processing is so poor I guess the movies never even left their building as it takes 2-3 days for them to arrive after being 'shipped', therefore impossible to have been shipped and returned. So my 2nd and 3rd rentals for the month took 10-11 days to arrive.
I also just found out that now Blockbuster doesn't even ship the next rental from your queue as long as you have an exchange from a local store out. They used to ship the next movie right away.
All that on top of their previous problems still in place and increased delays (throttling?) for sending out films, it just makes redbox and streaming videos that much more appealing.
Free is free, but I won't pay for such horrible service again.

There's an old saying in Texas, probably Tennessee. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice .....well you can't get fooled again.
Thanks OP! Signed up for the month trial with a new card I had.
Everyone, please be careful and cancel a few days before what is listed as your next billing date. I have posted in the past (others have confirmed) that sometimes your "next billing date" moves up by a day when you get to the day before what was usually listed. Example: every day you log in during your trial it says next billing date of Feb 10th...so you log in Feb 9th to cancel, only to see the next billing date changed to Feb 9th and you're getting charged for the next month. Not sure if this has happened to anyone recently as I haven't had BB in a while, but just a word of caution.
Heads-up: as I posted a free 4-week link six months ago, I can guess there was a more or less constant trickle of FW users who took advantage under the radar. Recently, though, someone posted that link as a separate deal, and the inflow of subscribers was increased. For this reason, I advise you to keep an eye on the free subscription if you currently have one, since it may get yanked at any time, if Blockbuster realizes what is going on.
