can someone explain to me the difference between this + the 59.99 IR Extender and the Harmony 900 at 300 dollars? I want something like RF extender due to my clogged up room and want to use the remote from my desk that is a bit to the left of the system out of sight, but the 300 price tag is alot. Also isnt the 900 just the harmony one with the ir extender? It was either the 900 or 890 refurb. sorry may be a bit off topic but you may be able to help me out!
Wanting to pull trigger, as I have seen others saying they are waiting for the price down to $150... but wondering if these price drops recently are going to lead to an even better deal soon... hate kicking myself though...

Critten, I have the Harmony One, Don't believe you can use RF Extender with it because it doesn't have a conventional size battery. I has a square battery, so don't believe it can work
Good price, but I was surprised to see it for $99.00 at Fry's in San Diego this week. We still use our 880 and are very happy with it or I would jump on this deal. I thought about buying it as a spare though.
i still do not understand why people spend hundreds of $$ on a remote.
I found $149.00 an acceptable price to pay for the technology I'm getting:
1. Self-programming via Harmony database: always up-to-date, every function and command, even for obscure devices. Plus, if you don't have the original remotes to your gear, you're really stuck with trying to get a different universal remote to learn your codes.
2. Color touchscreen and macros: One press for multi-gear control. It makes all the family members feel "less dumb" at trying to decipher the home entertainment unit.
3. Rechargeable battery
4. Sometimes the manufacturer's remotes just suck (cough *Denon* cough)
5. It looks cool.
I will admit, I was slow on the trigger to get last week's refurbished 890 from Amazon, but this one is black and new.

Technically, this would just be one hundred, plus a little extra. But technicalities aside, I myself have the 880, 2 of them in fact. They are a lifesaver when you have more than 2 components in your setup. Family and friends don't have to ask you how to change the channel and get the sound to work and get the input right, etc etc. I don't even touch the original remotes any more. Well worth it.

Logitech has a comparison chart of the Harmony One/900 and, yes, the major difference is the built in RF system. FWIW, those who registered their Harmony One recently received a Logitech email blast that the company recently released an RF module/extender to add on to the Harmony One (MSRP is $99).
The ergonomic footprint of both remotes is identical, with an interactive colour touchscreen (top) and sculpted backlit buttons (bottom). However, the Harmony 900 has 4 additional buttons (red, green, yellow & blue) that change the menu/device skins and improve bd functionality. Both remotes are programmed via web (pc & mac compatible), plug and play and their respective touchscreens can be personalised w custom .jpeg icons. The other improvement is that the Harmony 900 has a higher resolution screen.

I can imagine it'd be hard to understand since the remote that came with your 19" CRT works just fine.
so you have one too. great

They have this remote advertised for $99 after $50 rebate at Frys. But sold out quick. Will try to price match tomorrow at local Best Buy. This is a great remote, I have had one since they first released it and have not had one problem with it. Logitech just released a newer version of this remote, that is why they are blowing these out.

Where is this RF extender that is supposedly compatible with the Harmony One? I don't see how that is possible & do not find any mention of it on their site.

I have a similar set up & I use the Harmony 890. It's not the greatest, not very pretty & it has already been replaced once, but it sure is nice having the components hidden away. The Harmony 1000 & 1100 are bloated bricks that would be uncomfortable in anyone's hand(plus you have to pony up another $100 for the RF extender) so those weren't for me. The new Harmony 900 does look really nice(same as the Harmony One but with RF). My friend has the Harmony One and I have been jealous of the form factor & polish compared to my 890, but the screen went out on his within 6 months of purchase.
