if you find soccer boring, cricket is definitely not for you. I wonder which other sport you find boring. More than half the world is crazy over soccer.

How much time have you got in your hands for watching five day game that will eventually end as draw ?
Test match is second worst game played by men. The top one is curling.

There is no game which imitates life like test cricket. It's a complete sport which tests everything including skills, strategy, intelligence, presence of mind, maths, physics, chemistry, perseverance, guts, glory, luck, charm, team spirit, reflexes, concentration, technique, planning, on the spot decision making...........and the list goes on ..........no other game has so many variables!
Point is...if you really know the game , result doesn't matter. Just like life......it matters how you live your life not how you die...........

Adding green, firstly for fine remarks, secondly for being patient in treating a juvenile, ignorant poster.

Soccer would be so much better if they fixed their silly rules. Get rid of offsides, it's probably the single most fun-killing rule. Without offsides, you might say it's too easy to score goals. Well, make the goal smaller. Disallow non-goalies from entering a box around the goal, period. There are numerous ways to balance the game after removing offsides. The game would benefit greatly and appeal to the rest of the world.
From the few matches of cricket I've seen, it has more in common with baseball than soccer. Cricket seems a bit more interesting than baseball, but only because baseball is excruciatingly boring (except for the playoffs)

Wait for another month. The spectacular curling will be back for the prime time at Vancouver. It is same as watching 1000s of dot balls, but the game ends in few hours.

Thanks OP for sharing the free login info, hope it works tonite.
BTW, I had lots of fun playing curling on Wii last year (part of Winter Sports game).
Funny story, I used to love Cricket back in India, but tuned out when they lost so many matches (and the early exit in the last world cup). I started following NFL and guess what being in the DC area started following Redskins. The skins are so pathetic this year, that these test matches are going to be a great way to take my mind of Redskins.

Oh, same thing with me, but I live in the Boston suburbs and I am a big fan of the Patriots - you know how good they are. But, I still follow cricket scores at cricinfo and keep tab at Sachin's records.

wow - never have a seen a post with this much mis-information...having played cricket at a professional level and been involved in every aspect of the game, i am still trying to figure out how test cricket tests all those skills...
while this is a great deal, you guys reacting to the trolls are doing exactly what the troll wants you to do...so ignore those silly comments - much better way to get back at a troll...
also, in response to the comment that this is a great introduction to the game of cricket - i think test cricket is the worst way for a non-cricketer to get introduced to the game...
can you imagine if someone came to you and said...'oh, you want to learn about baseball? here watch the sport for the next 5 days...oh btw - we will regularly break for lunch and tea, and then since this is so tiring, we will take a rest day in between ( i know, i know what you guys are going to say...), and did i mention - at the end of 5 days - its possible that no one wins...' do you see the absurdity?
cricket is my favorite sport in the world, and while i absolutely love test cricket - there is no way anyone other than a hardcore fan can appreciate the this form of the game...
its very tough to be objective about the things that we love, but one can atleast try...

I am sure you will be delighted to see the wall (Dravid) holding up against spinners all day. You may even agree Curling player deserves the olympic medal as Usain Bolt does.
I think one day cricket or 20/20 cricket (innovative idea) are better versions of the game. My american colleague, who visited Bangalore couple of years ago, caught up with the game very quickly by going to one 20/20 game. This game is not complicated. IMO, test cricket was invented by Brits to kill the time, because they had so much time in hand when they had others (slaves?) to take care of their work.
American football is the best sport to display the true athletes. Go Pats!

i do agree with some of the things you say...i personally prefer 50 over a side to test cricket any day...but then - i am not a purist...i also love 20/20 but prefer ODI's...
and best sport is subjective...your favorite sport is AF, mine is cricket & tennis...which is fine...i am not a big fan of AF but millions of americans are crazy about it, so i am sure it is awesome...by that same logic, if millions of indians are crazy about cricket, or if billions of europeans, asians, africans etc are crazy about soccer then you would agree that there has to be a reason for that too...
