With refurb maps. From a recent review at RadioShack...
"Too bad the refurb. unit didn't come with updated maps. The ones on the unit are over a year old and to update costs almost as much as the unit itself."
You probably can get Garmin to man up and get updated maps but that's another hassle to go though.

Could someone comment on the IQ Routes Technology that 340s has?

Who has the Garmin for that price? Thanks in advance.

Hardly. MiniUSB car charger and a generic case are about $4 each on DealExtreme.
Its 7 not 10 and deal extremes stuff is okay but its not factory, its generic and not made as well.
true, always make sure you invest in those precision electronics to ensure that you get that perfect +5VDC of electricity which is difficult to achieve by any but the most sophisticated circuit designs.
I would go with 340 for IQ routes and lane guidance. IQ Routes do save time. This has the never version of software. 340 has 2gb of space and 64mb ram.
checked the local best buy,330s has 1gb of space and 32mb ram. The software on it is old and cannot be updated, its more than a year old. Yes the maps are new. No SD card or Micro sd card slot on either.
Just an FYI, I believe this uses the same antenna and revision of software as the tomtom one special edition v2 or v3... and yeah it tends to get a little confused, slowed down in cities w/ big tall buildings. (ie: SF) Still a good deal tho
Got this unit from Wurstbuy last night, and tried to turn it on. When plugged into my USB port, it seemed fine. But after unplugging from the computer, the screen has red cross flashing and a hard-drive kinda symbol. And I followed the instruction to reset this unit, but I still got the same thing.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Or maybe this model is just piece of crap...
I'm not convinced the 340 is a better deal. When I'm driving local roads, I tend to already know the roads so I don't use my GPS. I typically use my GPS when going to an unfamiliar place and in that event, IQ routing isn't going to be much use because I don't go that way often. Also, I'd personally rather have the text to speech capability of the 330S over the 340 which does not. The 340S has text to speech, but is close to $60 more most places. I've had GPS units before without TTS and found it sometimes hard to gauge exactly when there are multiple turns close together.
Thanks OP, picked one up for a Christmas gift...was tempted to buy one myself, but I don't drive anywhere...I don't have a life...no use for GPS to go back and forth to work
Be sure to use your favorite Cash Back program. I used AAA to get instant 10%.
Thank you very much, and green to you for this info. Bought it online, and Target (and 3h+ waiting outside in a line of 300 people in the cold) is dropped from my BF list.
Some tomtom models have the "IQ routing" feature and some don't. From my understanding that feature analyzes historical traffic patterns to help pick your route. For tomtom owners without that feature (such as the xl325se), do you regret not having that feature because you're often getting stuck in traffic?
