Seems like it would only do a small bird. If you are looking for something safer then oil, try this: Big EZ Oil Less Fryer Takes the hassle of the oil out of the system with very similar results. Takes a little more time then oil frying, but still far less then roasting and you can do dry rubs since it is not sumberged in liquid.
Well Thanks a Bunch - I ordered the Char Broil gadget - Gonna try fried turkey breast & whole chicken.
Wish me luck

I've had the Char-Broil oil-less one for over a year, works great. Don't know how much they're going for now, I paid around $100 last year, but I've seen them on clearance at Lowes since then for around $65. We even use it for large roasting chickens.
It holds up to a 15 lb turkey. I just got the Butterball one instead of the big easy because I also like to fry a lot of wings and fries. I had a much smaller indoor electric fryer and it just died, so I got the butter =ball to serve as a replacement for that and as a turkey fryer. I had a propane turkey fryer, but liked the idea of a thermostat and not the propane bottles.
I've had people tell me they really like the big easy because they don't have to buy oil and the clean up is easy, but they said the taste isn't quite as good as the actual fried ones. I would bet if you are aren't set on the exact taste of actual fried turkey, or don't need to fry other things, the big easy would do just fine.
Just tossing this out there, but I know my Warring Pro Fryer is a little electric hog, how bad is this bad boy...and to think you are running it at full blast for an hour to fry a turkey, ouch.
a little off topic, anyone know where you can find just the standard tub for one of the propane/open flame fryers? mine got lost in the move from college. somehow i still have the lid, tho :/
