Best price yet on a 50" plasma, but I don't know anything about the models from Panasonic. I thought someone was offering a Samsung 50" plasma this Friday for $599 but I can't find it anywhere now...

We got a Panasonic plasma and we've been very happy with it. There's a little bit of ambient noise, but I only notice it after I've turned off everything else, and am right next to it, getting ready to shut it off and set down the remote. We own a Samsung LCD and a Panasonic plasma so I don't have a head to head plasma comparison. Also, these represent our first HDTVs so both units kind of had me at hello, but if it were me I'd jump all over this price.
Just make sure you really do have a low light setting. Our LCD is in a much brighter room and does fine but the Plasma is down in the basement, very little direct light and we have to dim the overhead to get it looking its best.
WalMart have a Sanyo 50" plasma on Friday for $598 is that what you were thinking of 'Mulox'? WalMart will also have a Samsung 50" plasma too, but that's priced @ $698. I would choose a Panasonic over either of those two sets any day!
Yup, it must have been the Sanyo hocuspocus, but I definitely would pick Samsung or Panny over that. I need a TV for a workout room in the basement, and it's just perfect for plasma... not a single window in the room, nor in the adjacent rooms. Although now that I think about it, I would not want to work out in the dark either, so maybe plasma is not the best? I know sunlight is very bad for glare on plasmas, but what about general room lighting?
The C1 is the entry level 720p plasma, and U1 is the entry level 1080p plasma. Neither have AR coating, so glare may be a problem. All the other models have the AR coating afaik.

Considered this, but Discover won't give the free extended warranty like Visa, MC, and AMEX. It's a shame.... Warranty with 10% off would have been awesome.
