There are some cheaper netbooks on the market during the Black Friday sales, but a big advantage of Dell is they let you customize the computer to get the exact features you want (Windows 7 vs. XP, battery size, CPU, disk size, etc.). If you choose all the cheapest options, the price comes to $229 with free shipping. Some of the add-ons are worth considering, though ($35 for a 6-cell battery, $30 for Windows 7, $25 for an Intel Atom N280 CPU).
I don't understand the deal here. You are telling us that we can go to this website and customize a laptop/netbook? Wow, I thought the internet was only for porn.

if you change your LCD brightness setting to lowest and use a SSD , you can get 7 hours out of the 6 cell
and do you need halogen lamp to use the laptop then?

no, just your eyes connected to a functioning brain

One advantage is that you can actually buy the Dell now. The Newegg web site may be overloaded during the black Friday sale and all the good stuff will be sold out before it recovers.
USB Bluetooth is less than $2 bucks on Amazon third vendors I just ordered one for PAN. I'll wait for Newegg Acer Aspire 6-cell on BF day instead of a Dell.

The Newegg deal is worth trying for, but I expect they will have far fewer available than people want to buy.

I am sure Amazon or some vendor online going to offer deals. Office Depot send me a notice for BF and it as the Acer One for $199, of course I'll have to pay tax since OD is in my town. If I can save some money instead of $249, $229 for these Netbooks I'll jump in. Wow! I got Bluetooth cheap from BarginCell vendor through Amazon if you go to their site it cost more. Of course that vendor I use for Cell phone stuff they have given me over $25 in coupons I never use them. The Bluetooth USB doesn't need drivers.

802.11n USB only $19.99 sold under the name: TP-Link TL-WN821N 802.11n Draft 2.0 Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, 300Mbps I use TP-LINK for Gig adapters no issues.

This model (as configured in OP with no bluetooth and 3 cell battery) is normally $279 retail, this offer gives you a $50 discount. Even a refurb of this config is $259 in the Dell Outlet.

If you're looking for a netbook to run OSX, the Mini 10V runs rings around the Acer. On the Mini 10V everything works perfectly with OSX 10.6.1 right out of the box just like an Apple built Mac does. On the Acer- wifi, video out, card reader, and sleep don't work.
At the very least get the six cell battery, if you can afford it get the N280 processor. Bluetooth and wireless N are nice upgrades, but it comes with wireless G and as pointed out earlier in the thread Bluetooth can be cheaply added with a USB dongle from DealExtreme (although if you'll be running OSX I would recommend going with THIS DONGLE FOR $8.41 SHIPPED instead of the cheaper units, with the cheap dongles OSX support is hit or miss. With the $8.41 model I've gotten half a dozen and all have been plug & play with OSX native drivers).

This model can be configured with the Dell 1510 wireless N card built in for $25, for the extra $5 you lose the dongle and pick up a USB port. If wireless N is a necessity that would be the way I'd recommend doing it.

much larger keyboard (almost full sized), for one.
Acer support is horrible, even worse than Dell-hell.
The item is customizable, as well.
I second that. Acer-- accused me of "pressing on my LCD" in order to avoid covering under the 3-yr warranty; Dell wasted 16 hrs of my life, 8 pointless conversations and made me change my old HD w/ a new one myslef instead of ship and repair. Terrible. Nevertheless, between the two, Acer would definitely be better, 3-cell battery is worthless.
