Since Adobe released beta drivers to support hardware acceleration, I have been looking at nVidia G210 video cards. They are the cheapest series of card that does mpeg-4(xvid, divx) hardware decoding. You can look up some info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo
The regular price for these cards are usually $45+. This asus one is running for $44.99 - $20 rebate with free shipping (no tax for most states) - $4.49 Bing.com NeweggCashBack = $20.49
11/25 Go to bing.com and search for Newegg for 10% off.
ASUS EN210/DI/512MD2(LP) GeForce 210 512MB 64-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card - Retail
* Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA * Core Clock: 589MHz * Shader Clock: 1402MHz * Memory Clock: 800MHz * DirectX: DirectX 10.1 * HDMI: 1 x HDMI * D-SUB: 1 x D-SUB * DVI: 1 x DVI
pretty much gt210 struggled with some heavy 1080p work while 4550 and up were fine and gt 220 were fine. There was not an comparison on the 4350 but it should fair similar to the 4550 because it has the same number of shaders, just one or two less features (I can not remember)(nothing huge though).
The G210 can't decode bluray to 1080p displays without stuttering if some of the video quality enhancements are turned on. I would recommend a GT220 as the min for a HTPC.

ATI/AMD got me so pissed with their driver at one point that I have swear not to buy their card again.

I removed "good for htpc" from the topic title to make you happy. Can you please educate me on why you would want to turn on noise reduction for 1080p content? Where does the noise come from?
