Triple Channel - for Socket 1366 Core i7 920 +

Patriot Gaming RAM - DDR3 - 1600 - $119.99 no rebate

Admittedly potentially stupid question: why are memory kits coming out in 6MB all of a sudden? I always thought people went for 1, 2, or 4 MB at a time.

Intel's socket 1366 x58chipset motherboards runs on a triple channel platform ( 2GB x 3 ). Rather than 4 slots for RAM, you have 6 on the 1366 motherboards.

It's primarily for the core i7 9xx series CPU. And Intel's higher end platform. Intel has confirmed a 6 core CPU to come out on socket 1366 at a future point and not the socket 1156.

Socket 1156 x55 chipset which holds the core i5 series, and core i7 8xx series cpu's. Great processors, but not the highest end platform for Intel's current rollout plan.

Will these work on standard systems like Lenovo s10, or M58? I bought bunch of Adata memory with similar specification that crashes each time I try to install.

Give me a link to a product you're looking at, and I can let you know.

when I google s10, I get a Laptop ( NOPE - won't work there )

I don't get anything with Lenovo M58.

FYI - this is Desktop DDR3 Ram.

Ah ha. Thank you very much. Would there be any downside to putting one of these 6MB kits into an 1156 motherboard with 4 RAM slots and an i5?

you mean 6GB.

The only downside I see is that you're wasting money as you won't be able to take advantage of that triple channel pairing.

Thank you. Yes, GB. Pre-emptive food coma for tomorrow's meal is apparently already setting in...

pick up available in some areas - alas not mine
