Just got back from my local Best Buy (Hanover, MD) -- and they have most of the Black Friday stuff on the floor at Friday's price. I specifically saw the Samsung BD-P1600 listed above marked for $150
Local Fry's had about 200 of each of 3 brands of Blu-ray players off to one side when I was there yesterday, so although I haven't seen any announcement I'm presuming that they are going to be going cheap on Friday as well.
One of them was the Sony BDP-S360. I think another was the LG 360. Can't remember what the third was.

When I hover over the Samsung 1590 in WM online add, the price changes to $119. Selecting more info shows the price is already at 149 online, but price varies in stores...
The best Blu-Ray player is the Sony Playsation 3. Any any of these bargain Blu-Ray players will result in movies that don't play right aned l-o-n-g waits for firmware upgrades to fix the problems. then, when you buy a new-release disk, wait some more for yet another firmware upgrade'

So you're saying that Sony only got it right in it's PS3, and not even it's own brand of players like the BDP-S360 that WalMart is selling for $118 over the weekend (don't forget 10% Bing CashBack for WM)? My Samsung BD-P3600 has played every movie just fine and streams Netflix and Youtube. And, firmware updates have been frequent - like 1 a month - not sure if that's good or bad.

HDMI cable does not come with this BDP-S360 player (at WalMart)
HDMI cables are a dime a dozen on the web, nobody should buy a blu ray based on it?

I have news for all of you: A firm by the name of FUNAI CORP. makes the DVD player for Samsung,LG,Toshiba, Sony, Philips, Magnavox, Denon and others. That's right...its a Japanese firm making these products in China.

Sears currently has the Sony Blu-ray Disc Player (Model #BDPS360) for $129.99 Cheaper than Black Friday

Also BestBuy will have this one for $99-
InsigniaŽ - Blu-ray Disc Player with 1080p Output Model: NS-BRDVD3 | SKU: 9386112
Not sure about DNLA - I think the samsung 3600 supports PC streaming (maybe it does DNLA).
But for Netflix, all Samsung's 1590, 1600 (both 150) and the higher supports it. The Insigina supports it too.
Note that Samsung announce already that all 2009 models will support Blockbuster streaming when it comes out by the end of the year (1590,1600, etc).
I was looking at the insignia, but if I can have a entry level samsung, I'd rather go with them. There's 3rd party firmware for the insignia already out...

And the news here is?
Funai has been around for at least 20 years and used to mass-produce VCRs that were sold under a lot of brand names. I don't really care who makes my electronic equipment so long as performs well.
