THANKS SO MUCH OP!
I ordered the first two volumes of the Retro Sci-Fi Adventures and love them, so happy to be getting the 3rd one!

COUPON CODE! ISG4537V gets you free shipping, so the whole set came out to like $7.31 because of tax! Woohoo!

Video I made using the robots from the first two Retro Sci-Fi Adventure Collections:

Thanks OP. The Retro Sci-Fi movies are pretty bad, but the wind-up robot gift pack makes up in coolness what the films lack in cinematic quality.

Only wish I could complete my set; got Volume 1 during the last sale, but Borders canceled my backorder for Volume 2 twice.

Thanks OP and shlomo127! I just ordered Retro Science Fiction Adventures, Vol. 3 to go with Volumes 1 and 2 I picked up during the last sale.

One word of caution -- the sets are very, very heavy. I didn't realize just how large and heavy they were until I picked them up at the store and had to carry them for several blocks. The wooden storage boxes are over-sized and weigh several pounds. Just something to consider when you decide where to have them sent.

Last time I had Volumes 1 and 2 sent to a nearby store to get the free shipping. Now I'm thinking of tossing those nice but enormous storage boxes so I don't spend more to ship the sets than they cost. This time I used the free shipping code and just had Vol. 3 sent as an early birthday gift. I will try to convince the giftee that he doesn't need the cases for Vol. 1 and 2 so I can just ship the DVDs and robots.

Also got volume 1 & 2.
The robots became loose in the boxes during shipping and severely scratched the clear plastic covers on both sets.
The robots are reminiscent of the tin toys that used to come from Japan.
I've seen some old ones where it was obvious they were made from food/beverage tin cans.

Deal is dead. Just wanted to post my experience.

My plan was to get two complete sets (1/2/3) as Christmas gifts for my two younger brothers. So I ordered two of Volume 1 & 2, and later two of Volume 3 also, from Borders; they canceled my order for Volume 2 (OOS apparently). Hence to complete the sets, I ended up getting two of the Volume 2 sets from Oldies.com, for a painful $19.99 apiece.

Just got around to unpacking all of them tonight, in order to wrap them up. Wish I had examined them sooner. Specifically, every set looked either opened or abused. My Volume 1 sets came in a thin protective plastic clamshell of sorts---but both of them had scotch tape on the lid, suggesting they were opened before. In one of those sets, the robot was not secured by twist ties, and consequently it was rattling about loose in the box.
None of my Volume 2 or Volume 3 sets came packaged in the thin plastic case; instead, they were inside a thin bubblewrap bag. Not sure if that was the manufacturer's doing, or if this was stock that was somehow returned without the clamshell. Again, in Volumes 2 and 3, the robots were either poorly secured or not secured at all. The C-shaped "hand" on one of the Volume 2 robots was badly bent out of shape.

Given the movies are all sub-B-grade, and probably in the public domain based on their age, these sets certainly should be bargain-priced---and below $10 seems about right on this forum. I just wish the sets themselves didn't look so manhandled.
