Interesting that they dropped the third one to 7.99 finally to match BB, but they left VI (so far) at 11.99. Surely by morning it will be matched -- of course with shipping and tax from Bestbuy.com it's still cheaper for most to buy at Amazon even if it doesn't drop. I almsot pulled the trigger a couple times at Best Buy today on the quad ST, but the extra $13 for shipping and tax kept me from it. Now Amazon had the set for a hair under $40 for me -- still waiting to pull the lever.
I think I'll add it to my cart and let it marinate for a for hours.
The first 6(w/ Kirk) are $65 for the set, the last 4 (w/ Picard) are $42 for that set. And then of course the 2009 Star Trek is another $20. Is it cheaper anywhere else?
Having bought the complete DVD box set (1-10) for $40 a year or two ago, I think I'll just wait. Still $10-11 each for the whole set isn't that bad for blu-ray.

WARNING! Only STII has been restored. The rest of the blu-rays look like *SHIT* very disappointing. I had the box set but actually returned it. It looked worse than the DVDs (with the exception of STII).

VI is now also down to $7.99. So all 4 (II, IV, VI, VIII) ate $7.99 each and they total to $31.96 for all 4 tax free and shipped. Looks like there is an upcoming collection (Can't find the link now but I'm on the email notify list) so I was considering holding off buying these onesie twosies like this, but for $7.99 each for Blu?? Can't beat that.

Not sure if the box set was different than the individuals or not, but IV, VI and VIII all say REMASTERED. Not sure what the exact difference is between REMASTERED and RESTORED though.
Remastered is not the same as restored unfortunately.
Often a remaster will take the last known transfer however old it may be, run it through some digital 'clean up,' play with the color palette/contrast etc, and then re-encode it for DVD/BluRay. In reality it's often adding a bunch of filtering to get rid of grain, adding DNR and EE and releasing it to look like a video game instead of film. The older the film the worse this sort of stuff can end up if you don't have a film person involved and you have a "Grain in Evil" 20yo running the software who thinks that everything should look like Uncharted PS3.
