Too bad it's from TD. I will never buy another item from them again after I bought a video card that was advertised with an OEM game and they made me contact PP to refuse a charge after 3 calls to them would not fix it...

Damn why did it have to be a Celeron. If it wasn't Celeron, and was the T4300 this would be PERFECT! Agggghhhhhhh. I've been looking everywhere for an MSI with these specs at this price. I'd even be willing to pay a little extra.

the Celeron thing puts a lot of people off, but the T3000 (slightly slower) is posted at CPU Benchmark at 1100 and change ...
a dual-core Pentium T4200 is only about 100 points higher
Pros: build quality seems decent battery life is OK at 3.5-4+ hours less than 5.5 lbs number pad good features and speed for the price runs very cool, reasonably quiet already has bios updates 3 year warranty
CONS no dedicated volume buttons speakers fire down and are crap - my wife's mono d620 sound better lid does not latch closed trackpad works, but is small and not very good MSI is responsive but still seems to be getting their act together for support - drivers for this model still point to the OEM CR600 instead, etc - things like this sap confidence.

StvB, thanks for the feedback, I've been staring at this one for three hours now--I like that the video is a notch above most in this price class, but durability and keyboard feel are real important (I can stick a USB mouse in it)

no prob. I've been surprised at how decent the keyboard feels. Besides no volume buttons, my next biggest gripe is the lack of dedicated home and end keys. The modified bios that's been posted already takes care of swapping the Fn and Ctrl keys.

some confusion expressed via PM so direct link is added to OP
Hmmm....I am tempted to get this and return the $430 OD A6000-029US (that cost me $464 with tax). I'd save about $100 and only give up .4" of screen, 1gb of ram, 70gb of drive space, and go from a dual core 2.2Ghz to a dual core 1.9Ghz.
Ok I ran to HHGregg and checked out similar version of this latptop MSI A5000-020US the screen was nice and bright and the speed seems fine for my father in law and his new bride. The quality of the laptop seemed comparable to other computers and MSI gives a 3yr warranty - so that is a sweet deal if the company is good to work with.
So I then turned around and ordered it over the phone and did not even think about BCB because I have just sighed up for that. So he walked away with 2 of these babies MSI A5000-040US for 839.98 FREE Shipping No Tax - even though We did not do the BCB I Still think its a good deal.
Link to the Circuit City and Also Tiger Direct ( who now owns Circuit City- I think ) also have the same deal..
Has the Intel Dual Core T3100 which was slighly bigger than the version I test..
