This is the biggest anticipated home theater projector release of the year!

The Epson 8500UB is not being discounted on the web ANYWHERE except;
http://www.abcwarehouse.com/product_catalog/pc_proddetails.asp~a...

Selling EVERYWHERE for $2499 plus shipping,

They have it for $2100 shipped!

I have no affiliation with ABC, they aren't even near my state, but I was looking for the best price on this projector and there it is!
Call for free shipping and price through Mike Oravec
Account Manager Contract Sales Division
ABCWarehouse
248-232-3317

Are you able to use the $200 mail-in rebate with this deal?

Well thats the YMMV.
They say they are not part of the rebate program, so thats the official statement.

Every rebate I see is FROM Epson, NOT the retailer.
It requires a UPC and copy of receipt.

i'm gunna try it, but its still the best deal out there without the rebate...

Glenn

They didn't have them in stock on the site, so I called ABC and they said they would be getting them in stock on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

They're up on the site again now!

$2174

If you contact Mike Oravec directly like the original post describes, he is able to get you the $2100 price and free shipping. I ordered mine earlier today.

Congrats!

I was hoping some people would take advantage of this.
NONE of the AV forums allow posting of a great deal...

How stupid..

Please provide me sales person Mike Oravec's number. I called the above number and it was incorrect.

Please send me Mike's number so that I can order it.

Selling EVERYWHERE for $2499 plus shipping,

That's not true. Projector People $2299 Shipped AR

Visual Apex $2299 Shipped AR

Is ABC a licensed retailer? The fact that they're not participating in the rebate program makes me wonder, and they don't show up in Epson's Dealer Search for Various Zipcodes.. Projector People (aka Audio Visual Innovations) at 33634 and Visual Apex at 98110 both show up in their search.

Not trying to threadcrap, but something potential buyers should research as it may affect warranty.

I was concerned about that as well, but reading the warranty statement for the 8500 on the Epson site, I don't see any mention of having to purchase from an authorized reseller to get the full warranty.

Called Epson directly.
Warranty is in full effect.

Everywhere selling the projector is $2499 with rebate.
So its no discount getting it at $2499 plus shipping, then rebate.

This deal is NET $200 cheaper EVEN AFTER YOUR REBATE, free shipping AND no rebate hassles....

Much better deal in my book.

I contacted ABC before purchasing and they told me they were an authorized Epson dealer. I have it in an email from one of their customer service reps incase it ends up not being true.

I actually emailed Mike first, his email address is moravec [at] abcwarehouse [dot] com (EDIT: removed phone number and sent directly). He did tell me at the time I purchased he had already sold 10 of 20.

FYI, I received the projector this morning. Wanted to set it up, but I was already late for work.

GREAT NEWS!

I also was assured by the Epson Store Representative that the $200 rebate was good
as long as it was NOT purchased at BestBuy, Office Depot or Staples!

This could bring the final price down to $1900!!

YMMV, but hey!

Good luck!

Hi all,

I confirmed with an Epson rep that projectors bought from ABC do not quality for the rebate. Yes it's a good price even so, but caveat emptor.

Ugh,
I just confirmed the complete opposite today with Epson.

Here is a link to a rebate form.
http://www.visualapex.com/ProductSupport/Home-Cinema-8500-UB_pro...
You can plainly see the exceptions;

"This offer is not valid for purchases made in store or online at Best Buy, OfficeMax or any educational
institution."

Who knows,

Like I posted, YMMV, but like chris said, "its a good price even so"!

Let me clarify further - the ABC pricing already has the rebate vetted into the selling price. It's still a good price though. I put mine up this week and it's a fantastic projector.

- Chris

Glad to hear they're authorized, almost wish I'd waited on my 4000. Great price and a green for OP.

Hello All,

I called Epson rebate center twice on Friday and talked to two seperate individuals and they said the same thing that ABC Warehouse would qualify for the rebate. I was specific becuase I found ABC Warehouse store in Lansing,MI (I live in Wisconsin) and the store has a better price than their online store (I asked specifically if I bought from the store). The sales guy there will ship me the unit for $1999.00 plus I can apply the $200 rebate. Only issue is that they will not do a deal over the phone. So if you have a friend around any ABC warehouse store you may have to have them order one for you and then pay them. They will ship to your address and the same address should be on the bill to claim rebate.

Looks like they won't ship outside of their immediate area. They won't ship to the west coast for example when I typed in my zip code.

I'm in SC and no problem shipping ANYWHERE.

If you follow the instructions and call the corp sales manager you'll get excellent service like I did!

Mine came Friday and I LOVE IT! what a great machine!

So, no iris noise or machine being too loud. I'm concerned about the iris noise mostly and the picture quality. Please let me know what you think. Finding it hard to decide between Panny and Epson.

if you were here tonite watching MNF, you'd call mike and get one tomorrow..

OMG what a picture..

and I haven't even messed with the settings!

We normally watch on a 55 Vizio 120Hz which is nice, but 11 foot just is amazing quality.

You won't be sorry!

This is an awesome projector. I just installed one last week for a client. I purchased the cheaper 8100 due to my budget and it even looks great. The Epson has a 2 year warranty which is not reduced by bulb life. The Panasonic has a one year or up to a certain number hours on the bulb. I don't remember the exact number. So you could easily get less than a year. Easy decision IMO.

How did you guys who ordered get hold of Mike? Tried calling a couple of times, left voice mail but no luck getting a response.

OK I just heard from him. He says his price includes the rebate from Epson. That puzzles me as I thought the rebate came directly from Epson. Does he charge you $2200 with the expectation you will file for the rebate?

The latest version of the rebate PDF from Epson includes ABC Warehouse in the list of vendors which are not eligible for the rebate:

Good to hear Epson is working out for you guys. I found a ABC Warehouse in Gaylord, MI and talked to a Sales guy, name - Kirk Smith. I faxed him my drivers license and my credit card copy and he went ahead and ordered one for me. I paid $1979.00 (shipped pricer).I was hoping for a $200 rebate on top of this price but doesn't look like it is going to happen now after checking the new Epson rebate form which excludes ABC Warehouse.

Just curious, no iris noise is good to hear about. Is the lamp only warranted for 90 days and how easy is it to exchange directly with Epson if things aren't right with the PJ?

Wrong info Dotnet. The Panasonic AE-4000U has a 2-year warranty/2000 hour warranty. As long as you purchase from an Authorized dealer.

Call Panasonic and if you even get Cust Svc on the line, ask them what their exchange policy is, THEY DON'T HAVE ONE! You have to ship your projector, have it repaired and returned..WEEKS without a theater.

Epson? Immediate shipment of a new projector! I'd go Epson any day as well.

In 3 months, the new 9500 model will be out - for around the same price. THis model will be reduced.

Are you serious? The 8500 and 9500 are very similar and should be both available. The 9500 is only sold through retail installers and has some additional warranty, processing capabilities, etc...for around $1000 more.

dunb440 -- Clearly your a bathtub sailor - small time hobbyist/local installer. With Panasonic you contact your dealer, not Panasonic, for initial service failure (ISF) swap. I was not aware of Epson having a "zip-it" overnight loaner program available while the unit is out for repair. Do tell.

Ya know, I posted an excellent deal here, and then comes some asswipe with insults about BS.
Epson exchanges throughout the 2 years, The DEALER, not Panasonic can choose to swap it out INITIALLY.

3 months from now, no way.

Then again,
Buy a f#$king Panny, no one really cares.

this is about the DEAL on the Epson, and clearly Epson squats all over Panasonic as far as warranty,
not according to just me but ANY and EVERY projector site or AV forum.

Back to the actual topic for the rest of us,

This is a deal site, no?

The 9500 is in hand of some people now, so it is available.

"With the Epson 8500UB, you also get a two year replacement program, which essentially means that if you have a problem covered by warranty, Epson will overnight you a replacement from their replacement fleet, and you just send your old one back. Epson pays all freight.

Of the popular competition, The BenQ W6000, several Optoma projectors, and the Panasonic PT-AE4000 have one year warranties."

With Panasonic you get ONE YEAR standard crap, send it back and we'll look at it when we can.

There, I do Telled.

Hello all the lovers of Epson 8500 projectors .

I am living in France but I have friends of my wife who are living in Palo Alto.

I have a question for Sanjil.

I want to buy online this epson 8500UB (from France by sending by email or by fax of a copy of my drivers license and my credit card copy)
I want to pay $1979.00 (shipped as Sanjil did)

But this EPSON 8500UB cost $2290 now on their website

After having buy this projector I will ask ABC to ship it to my friends in Palo Alto .

Could you send me a mail or a fax number where I could join Kirk SMITH.
Maybe someone could call him and ask him if what I project to do is possible ?

Thank you in advance.

Aurelien
