Sig sauer sp2022 9mm pistol w/ 2 hi-cap mags, night sights $399!!! Great gun deal!! Just got my cdnn catalog in the mail and this was front page... ill be callin in the morn to get one or two for xmas gifts...
SP2022 9mm Black stainless slide w/ polymer frame built in rail 2 grips 2 15rd hi cap mags! NIGHT SIGHTS! sa/da $399.99 cheapest Ive ever seen it
This is a great deal on a great pistol! I've had mine for a few months and have put over 1,000 rnds through the pipe, so far no problems. The gun is a lot more accurate than I am!
Don't know the details on this deal, but hopefully these are the Germany manufactured ones with the Ilfalon finish, and triple serial numbers. Although if they're USA assembled they're still a great handgun. A solid design with beautiful craftsmanship, for a polymer framed gun. Nite sights are icing on the cake. Hopefully CDNN will swap out the 15 rnd mags for lower capacity models to accomodate those of us living in repressed states.
sounds awesome. very odd, because I've never owned a gun and was thinking about gettin one last night for the new house. Is there a direct link for this model. the link just takes me to the home page and I cant seem to find it. Thanks!

You have to call CDNN to order the gun. You can download the catalog PDF from their site but it ususlly offers little information except a picture and price. The link I provided is Sig's product page.
is there a good resource to find local shops you can have it sent to? not familiar with the process

You've never owned a gun and you might just up and purchase this pistol for home protection? You might want to take a breath and many steps back and do your due diligence. Educate yourself on the proposition and do research into different types of firearms. I mean no disrespect at all, but it's a reasonably objective assertion that informed persons would likely not recommend this weapon for you or that purpose (having nothing at all to do with the quality of the gun at hand). Never mind the myriad of guns and chambering better suited for home protection, you really need to spend some time at a range learning to handle and accurately shoot different makes and models to learn what may be a good match for you plus a more safe and potentially effective firearm in the house.

The above really is good advice... but the vast majority of people will probably not follow it anyway. With that said, if you don't live in a large home and you have the need to leave your bedroom if something goes bump in the night (eg. to get your kids), this is a pretty good option. The SP2022 comes standard with night sites and has an accessory rail for a flashlight. A shotgun is not the best defensive weapon for all situations.

Hmm, I wouldn't have guessed that someone with the nic "KingMongo" would have little hands.
Yes, this has a staggered magazine.
I'm more of a Napoleonic type of king than a Mithridatic one =P
Thanks for the info.

Thank you. Though I wasn't thinking of a shotgun for a novice (even though he should also learn about the plusses and minuses of that option). Getting subjective, for a novice considering a home defense handgun, I would argue the safety and practicality of a DA only revolver chambered with home defense appropriate ammo in .357, .38, .40 etc. In the hands of someone who doesn't regularly handle firearms in stressful situations, the heart racing, adrenaline pumping, hand shaking "this is not a movie or video game" reality of such a situation would likely negate a handgun having night sights or other cool or even beneficial features a pistol like this. I would argue that the best gun in this situation would be very simple to use, utterly reliable and easy to maintain, and would require certain determination to discharge (DA only). It should also have significant stopping power while posing a less lethal threat to possible family, friends or neighbors in other rooms (there being better and safer options than 9mm). Again, that's my subjective opinion. But any responsible gun owner or enthusiast would agree that a novice should do their due diligence and arrive at their own opinion based on education and shooting experience, not buying opportunities.

There are arguments on the other side. For your first handgun, you'd better get something you can handle and practice with. The ammo for .357, .38, .40 etc. makes punching holes in paper much more expensive than 9mm. Also, when the heart is racing, adrenaline pumping, etc. as you said, having something with minimal recoil might actually be safer and more effective in the hands of a novice than something like a .357 would be. Stopping power means nothing if you can't hit your target in the first place.
Does this come with a pistol whip? This is S&M brand right? Hurry I only have a few minutes before she comes back

I own this gun in both 9mm and 40s&w. One of the most fantastic deals I have seen on a gun like this. Wife says I have too many guns and too many bills so I can only wish I was in a position to buy some more. If you are contemplating buying a gun I just don't see how you could go wrong with this. There are other guns out there of lower quality and higher prices/less features. This is not a Sig deal that will be around forever, these are production overruns that are getting cleared out. When they are gone, that's it!
Mmmmm really wish they had the CA friendly 40s&w at this price...

Im not disagreeing he should do more research, but I feel that this IS a gun that many new owners could buy blind and be (relatively) happy with for HD. 9mm means cheap ammo to practice more with, less overpenetration, less recoil for users of all sizes. Modern ammo doesn't mean a defense caliber "needs to start with 4" anymore. Name brand with as good a reputation as anything in this business (always be haters..). Personally I like the safety features of the Taurus 24/7 pro DS, but lots of people consider Taurus the 'Hyundai' of firearms, and I wouldn't judge them for choosing a more established name (tho i drive a hyundai too ).
The best gun will always be what you are familiar with. IMO, the ammo pricing, lack of recoil, and lack of overpenetration give 9mm the smallest barrier to proficiency and use for a new gun owner. Which means people new to gun ownership are more likely to practice and become familiar with it.
Personally, I like shotguns for HD. They are intimidating, and make it unlikely the perp will make it out alive to sue me. you don't have to be dead-on in aiming (tho still aiming of course). A longarm is easier to aim and set. A 5.56 carbine makes a great alternative. BUT. They are harder to manuever indoors since now we can't hole-up but need to go for our baby boy. My 5' wife may need to be able to use it, and i'm not sure she could handle the recoil without more practice. Most importantly, on that vein, the nearest rifle range is an hour drive to an outdoor range (read: 2 season range, this is Chicago). Conversely, we can plink cheaply at a local indoor pistol range 20 minutes away, all year round. We choose the 9mm pistol.
The reality is that a lot of people who are looking for their first HD firearm will not take the time to rent dozens of different models and enroll in multiple day courses of SD, HD and general firearm skills. No more than people enroll in a advanced driving skills course before they obtain their driver's license and take off on a cross country trip. Clearly it'd be better in both cases if they did take the time to do it right, but clearly life is less than perfect.
So given that reality, for a first timer who is determined to buy personal protection, might as well buy a dependable firearm that's not overly complicated or intimidating, fairly easy to operate, user friendly, and cheap enough to operate such that the cost of doing so doesn't inhibit them from hopefully spending a little time practicing at the range. Taking those requirements into account, this is a good candidate.
But whatever first weapon you buy - definitely budget for at least one course, ideally more, to learn basic skills.
Shipping is usually flat and they have many weekend e-mails that can give free shipping over $150 or 300, just depends.

Glad to hear they have some left. Am going to get my ducks in a row with my local dealer so I can receive one of these. I've heard that one can change out barrels and mags on these to shoot with different caliber(.40 or Sig 357). Is that correct?
"Cheap" and "Readily available" are relative terms when it comes to ammo. 9mm is generally at the lower tiers of handgun ammo pricing, and likewise it usually as available as any other popular handgun ammo. The last year or so has been quite unusual for ammo supplies, but that has settled down a lot, and hopefully will continue to normalize. But, let the recent shortage be a lesson... assess your current and projected future needs and stock up on ammo when you can, panic buys or shortages can materialize quickly and you really don't want to be caught with an empty magazine.
