Seagate 1tb internal hard drive

7200RPM
32MB BUFFER
RETAIL BOXED HARD DRIVE (INSTALLATION KIT INCLUDED)
5 YEAR Seagate Direct Warranty

Don't know if their self-bricking "feature" has been fixed yet with the latest bios. If you want to buy this, please do your own research into recent development of this. They did issue a new firmware, but don't know if it fixed the issue for good. Maybe it's not happening anymore, maybe it is.... but do read further into it first. I got hit hard a while back by this problem in a few of these drives and have since moved to WD drives.

Seems the latest firmware SD1A did NOT solve the bricking problem (read the post by amegalo 8-16-2009)

not bad.... Staples has the 1tb external for $99.99 but with $25 off $100 you are looking at $75+tax..... with 1-2% CB, bout same price for internal/external

What is the Warranty on that one?

5 years warranty, very good! Thanks for posting!

Am I correct to think that this is NOT EXTERNAL? There is no enclosure to protect the HDD.

correct internal.

in 4 one, I need the space.will use in Dlink NAS. 5 yr protection will help me sleep easier, also retail box assures it will arrive in good condition.

Thanks OP. I was in the market for one. No I've got one.

5 left in seattle/renton store

any cheap case for sata drives?

My local Fry's (Manhattan Beach) was out of stock. I stopped at a nearyby Best Buy, and they matched the Fry's price.

I am not sure if those Seagate drives are good for RAID or not as the reviews were not so kind for it, seemed due to the timing delay from the drive. I got the 4 Hitachi version from Fry's last week for the same price for my SS-4200E server. For non RAID application they are fine.
