The Verizon DROID by Motorola is now $119.99 at authorized dealer Wirefly with free Verizon Wireless activation + free shipping & no tax
plus $50 per phone from Bing if you click on BCB search link

Price is for new accounts or upgrades with a 2-year contract. Family plan add-a-lines are $149.99.

To get this price plus $50 BingCashback you must

  • Start your shopping session from Bing Search and click on the Wirefly Bing cashback link
  • Click on Verizon link on Wirefly or search for "DROID".
  • Complete your purchase in the same online session.

Online orders only. Up to $250 from Bing for a 5-line family plan. As with all the other Droid deals, a data plan is required. If you are upgrading, Wirefly only offers this deal on plans starting at $59.99/month.

You can also make money on the Droid Eris, which is $9.99 for new accounts, $29.99 for upgrades, or $19.99 for a family plan add-a-line, with free activation and $50 BingCashback. Would be a nice make-money add-a-line phone to go along with a Droid family plan.

As with all Wirefly deals, you agree to maintain your rate plan and required data features for at least 6 months to avoid additional charges.

This deal has been referred to on other threads but free activation is new and it seemed to merit its own thread as it did not show up on searches for Droid.

mod edit: direct links to competing deal sites not allowed. Link broken.

Holy Droid, Batman. If this works, this is a nice deal that I've been looking for.

Got a quick ? for anyone that can help.

If I'm interested in getting 1) Two phones with $100 cash-back total (one for me and one for wife), and 2) A cheaper plan than $59.99, it would seem that I have to open a new account for each of us, rather than do it as a renewal. Just wondering how I would assure that I kept our old numbers.

I'm guessing open new accounts whole the old accounts are still open, and then call VZW to port our numbers to new accounts after activation?!?!

Can anyone tell me if I'm under or overthinking this?

Verizon has increased EFT from 175 to $350.

Do you have to select a price plan when you already have an account? Or will they just ad the phone to your current plan ?

Buy a Droid now for for $70 or wait until next month to see if the mythical Nexus One is for real (and a real bargain)?

Good point, this is definitely a hot deal, but I think I will wait to see the Nexus One in person.

If you use the same Social Security number, Verizon will figure it out, report it back as a current customer, and you will get hit with a big bill.

Bingo fastness...with the new ETF VZW has destroyed the incentive to buy a phone from them and involve yourself in a contract. I'll buy my phones from eBay or Craig's List from now on. The wireless business will change a lot over the next 12mo so it's better pay extra for your phone and not involve yourself in a contract.

with the broken link this is kinda worthless... what do we do?

Search for Wirefly on bing or click here (fixed)

Does anyone know how to renew one line -of a family plan- on wirefly? If i choose one only it treats me like an individual plan, and if i choose the family plan it wants to sell me two phones?

HTC Eris is a very different product than the Motorola Droid. You can get the Eris for FREE (with contract). Look for other threads in this forum.

I'm in the same boat.

Hmm....I'm thinking maybe a better way is to separate my wife's and I accounts from family into two separate accounts. I'm assuming a new contract is not involved, especially since VZW will be getting more money with separate accounts.

Once the accounts are separated (should be instant...or at the very least a couple days right?) then I should be able to renew both accounts. Both are eligible for new phones.

Worth a shot maybe.

I have two phones on SERO $30 plan (wife and daughter). I am using the old company phone. I want to upgrade. What would be their cheapest plan with unlimited data and 500 minutes + text messages? Thanks.

Nationwide Select Family SharePlan 700 is $99.99 for 2 lines, 700 minutes, unlimited text/picture messaging plus $30 for the data plan for each phone.. it's what I'm doing with my wife.

I signed up for the Family Basic Plan 700 last week. I am just curious, what's the differences between text/picture messaging and regular email/IM? I've been "sharing" photos through email and it is free. And I've been using Meebo to IM my friends for free. Wouldn't that be cheaper than paying for text msg? What the Pros of using txt/picture msg?

What you are trying to do is called a Migration and not a "port" 'you can't port a number from the same company to the same compnay' AND there are fees associated with that. So if you and your wife separate your accounts, pay the migration fee and then pay the pro-rated fees including but not limited to family text messages and bundle savings etc, you will most likely pay more than what you think you will be saving through this little deal you are trying to do. There are other ways. Last night, I checked Best Buy is sending out coupons for free Eris and a $149.99 Droid. I already bought my Droid and going to see if they will do a price match and get my $50 back.
Worth a shot maybe.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it speculated that the Nexus One is a GSM only device? That would not work on Verizon's CDMA network..

LetsTalk.com and wirefly.com had a shady reputation a couple years ago, anyone with recent experience with them?

With IM/email, you're limited to your friends being in front of a computer to receive the IM/email. Or if you're lucky, your friend has IM/email on their phone.. but then they'd have to be signed in, etc. Text messaging is more ubiquitous, and most of my friends and family don't really use IM in place of text messaging.

If you travel a lot, GSM is preferable because Europe and Asia mostly use GSM.

johnny98 said: If you travel a lot, GSM is preferable because Europe and Asia mostly use GSM.

I understand that, but if your a Verizon customer already, why would you wait on a phone that won't work on your network? Unless you plan on switching providers..

Won't you also have to pay the $30/month PDA phone surcharge on that 59/month plan? Isn't the 70 450 minute PDA plan cheaper?

Now you know why Verizon is not popular with people who travel a lot.

Thanks for pointing it out. No wonder I don't hear from some of my friends anymore
I guess I can still send email to their SMS Email, but they still can't return my msg.
Is there any way they can send SMS to email?

One of the main problems I find with people on internet forums is that they use unneccessary abbreviations to make themselves look more intelligent. I understand that it seems that your trying to condense what you say if for example you are texting, or using a phone to surf the web. But I have an inclination that spelling verizon and writing "VZW" does not increase the speed of your typing, and that more than likely you wrote this while sitting at a computer. Also, the first poster used the abbreviation EFT which is first of all spelled wrong, and second it is also unnecessary. I personally don't really care that much, but for people who are new to forums, and more specially informational forums such as fatwallet, they are going to have a hard time knowing what anyone is talking about if you continue to try to impress people with your made up abbreviations, especially if you can't even spell them right.

Nothing recent, but you're right about Wirefly's past. Two years went past before I finally did get my rebates from them. It was by far the most difficult company I ever dealt with and I've dealt with a lot. They required a six month wait before the rebate could be submitted with only a one month window then to get it in. They "lost" and denied good submissions as incomplete requiring multiple resubmissions, and needed followup (what happened?) emails to stay on track. Be sure to keep copies of everything and pay particular attention to dates and all the finest print.

Still more expensive than an iPhone with that termination fee. crazy.

buyingalot said: Still more expensive than an iPhone with that termination fee. crazy.

The vast majority of people honor their contracts. Are you buying the phone and already planning on terminating the contracting early?

kokodesu said: vante said: LetsTalk.com and wirefly.com had a shady reputation a couple years ago, anyone with recent experience with them?Lots of recent Wirefly deal discussions on FatWallet. I've bought my last 3 phones from them and am a big fan.

Lets Talk still has the crazy six month rebates, but Wirefly's deals are all instant now. No rebates.

I think the price has bumped to $149.99 at Wirefly. So it would now be $99.99 w/ BCB.

hmmm... somehow the link at bing doesn't work.

I just went through the bing link...wierd

First of all posters can ask what ETF means if they don't know, they can google it, they can WIKI it, or, in context of fees and ending contracts, might be able to come up with the fact that it means early termination fee. And you've never mistyped or transposed something while typing?? I don't think that is teh truth.

Second, VZW is a commonly used abbreviation, here and on other boards. It is used by most people appropriately, and not to make them look smarter.

Sheesh....next thing you'll be calling someone out for using B&M or YMMV......or *GASP*.....BCB. (Bing cash-back. A lot of people still don't know it, but they can ask.)

Skipping 30 Messages...

Can someone describe how to upgrade the main line of a family plan, but not the secondary line (already is a Droid)? If I select family plan, it puts two phones in the cart and I only want one. Can I select an individual plan and then change it once it arrives?
