This is a very good product for playing Video, audio and other homebrew software on your Nintendo DS. This will work with Slot 1 of your Nintendo DS.
This is the first time I have seen this price on this item.......Dont crap the thread by saying it is illegal bla bla....I am not asking your for piracy....This is a very good hardware to be used for your homebrew software or if you wanna play videos on your Nintendo DS unit.
I hope you like this deal but it will take atleast 2-3 weeks for recieving.
On the new DSI. Whenever the DSI connects to the network for gaming or whatever, it self update the firmware on the console and will make these card invalid. I don't know how often R4i vendor update their firmware but I have people have better luck with SuperCard. Just something I heard. I am sticking to my regular DS with DSTT.
I have the acekard 2i. great little card but not very sturdy. AFAIK DSI does not do self update, you are prompted. I believe R4i works with v1.4 firmware now. I have recently ordered a new R4i card from my regular place. Decent site, have a look http://www.DealExtreme.com/details.dx/sku.25411 It cost me $10.56 delivered!
I have bought many items from DealExtreme. I ordered my first R4 card in Oct. I ordered a 2nd right after that but it would not work. They sent me a replacement right away without cost to me. It would not work either. I tried the firmware for the upgraded card instead of the standard card and then it worked.
The second card still won't work no matter what I try but I would still buy from them first.

How much better is the 'SUPER' R4i than just plain old R4i?

I thought the real R4 was dead.
As for this, I'd love to know how to get games and existing saves off the original NDS cartridges. I got one of these for my daughter so she doesn't have to constantly swap out (and keep track of) the originals, and so she could play recoded movies (I think she has the ultra, and the s/w isn't really updatable to the current moonshell, afaict, plus the videos all stutter every 5-10 seconds). I've been d/l the games she buys, but there are one or two less common ones I can't find a ROM for. Also, if she starts the game on the OEM cart, there doesn't seem to be a way to get the game saves onto the SDHC.
It frustrating because most of the market is either (a) people who just d/l roms or (b) homebrew fanatics which go for the $50+ units which let them use it to program.

I wonder the same thing. There are so many "versions" of the R4, or of any of these types of chips out there, how do you tell if it's the real ones or not? There are ways to tell supposedly, but you can't tell till you get it to your door.
Based on where they come from Iw ould say knock off. I usually order from www.realhotstuff.com in New Jersey (Quick shipping and real product) but it does cost more. Guess it goes back to the old saying - You get what you pay for!

But if they work, what the heck. On the Devil's Shadow forum I think they recommend the Acekard
I searched for that process last week (how to create nds file). THIS was about the best result I came up with.
I get the games from HERE. If you want a particular game send me a PM and if I have it, I can host it without you having to use their p2p program. I currently have about 450 games in English. I also have lots of games in other languages.

superflysocal said: I am new to DS. So what is considered the best kart for DSi? super r4 vs. acekard vs. ez-Flash 3 in 1, etc. Is there one that is considered the best?
I used to use R4 and loved it until they stopped upgrading the firmware, so I now use the Acekard 2i. Here's what I like about each of these two, I assume R4i is similar to R4 in term of menu, I never tried the ez-flash.
Since there are no more original R4 teams, all R4s on the market are clones, and quality varies... After the original R4 team broke up, there are many rumors on how the developers each started their own version, R4 Pro, R4 Deluxe, R4 Pocket, R4 SDHC, R4i, R4 Revolution 3, R4-III, R4 Ultra, R4 Top, R4 Advance, Super R4, R4 Gold... These are just some off the top of my head.
The SuperCard DSONEi is a card I have used since the day the DSi came out, and they have always updated the firmwares. In fact, this is the only card, that I know of . where the firmware can be flashed.
I rather spend $20 bucks for something that works and is upgradable than a clone... just my two cents..
Sorry I refuse to buy anything from focalprice after their last shipment that I received defective and the customer service would just not do anything about it.

My first R4 card was for the DS. It was limited to 2gb but was a very good card. I moved onto DSTT after that and had a 8gb card. For DSi, I heard that R4 cards (including R4i) had many clones and also did not support firmware 1.4. But recent reviews read shows it now works on 1.4. I havent tried a normal R4i as yet since it did not work on 1.4. I will update on how good this card is once I get it.
Whatever card is got, ensure the firmware is upgradeable. That is why I initially got the acekard.

He meant on the original manufacturer's brand not one of these bazillion knockoffs and relabeling of other carts. M3 team does make the real R4 again but I forgot which one it is. It comes in a white box. But it is not worth it either, as you can't upgrade those and if Nintendo comes out with an update, you are SOL unless you don't want to updat your DSi console.
Just buy an M3i Zero and call it a day. Sure it costs around 30 bucks but it is the best card you can buy for DSi right now. Acekard 2i is second to it. If you want to debate it, why not go down to the facts. M3i Zero gets plenty of updates and also has superior quality components inside (underneath that plastic, which may seem "cheap" but realize that it isn't the plastic that makes the cartridge work, it is the internal parts). The OLD version of the Acekard 2i had better components in it but now the one you currently buy for around $12 has cheaper parts in it because people complained about the chip bulge in the packaging. Anyway I can go on for hours telling people why M3i Zero is the best choice, I'm sure 75-95% of people will not listen and will just run out and buy a flimsy TTDS or the like and have it FAIL on them after a month or 2 and still think they are right and I am wrong so anyways....I degress.

I agree that most should buy the better card, especially with the newer DSi. My kids use the oldre DS and for use the $7 card has worked fine so far. Now that we know what we are doing we will probably buy the better cards when we need one.
you sound like the guys at Devils-Shadow. If someone asks about buying a R4 card (which has just become the general statement when referring to the carts) they give a staement to the effect of; if you buy an R4 card, don't come to this forum for help. Buy the acekard or else.

I have 4 R4i Gold cards...they handle up to 32GB sdhc micro cards. You can download moonshell v2 or moonshell v1.3x ( v1.33 is out and v2 came on my gold's), most already come with moonshell already on the card (microcard). You have the option to have a microcard with your R4i card or you can get it without. To get a list of authorized resellers visit http://www.r4isdhc.com . They work with DSi perfectly, you have to get use to the icons and screen but the directory pops up, plays all games. It even bypasses the region codes on games so you can play Japan region games on US region DSi's. I can neither confirm nor deny that one 16GB micro card will hold 1/2 or more of the NDS games on the market. The great thing is...instead of buying multiple R4i cards you buy just one, then a couple of 32GB or 16GB microcards to hold all your games. No more bulk storage. I love it and so do my kids, you invest more time than money into doing this, in the end it is worth it.
IF YOUR DSi HAS BEEN UPDATED!!! YOU MUST USE A R4i CARD!!! Most DSi's will only work with the R4i NOT THE R4
in response to the card not working after update....moonshell is updated regularly as Nintendo keeps trying to block this card set up, you have to love hackers. Just go to the website above or google it and follow the links. You can upgrade your moonshell on older cards too. The updates are card specific.
Don't know why anyone is complaining about price....$8 - $40 and romulation.net or $4000 which is better?

They are all knockoffs like TWAM Said. That doesn't mean they are bad though. I bought this one R4SDHC for 5.97...ok it's at 4.60 now...but basically they work pretty good and don't "fail." If you look on the r4i-sdhc.com website the new ones are actually out and I think they can bypass the detection on the new DSI, but if you have an old one it wont matter.

Most of the issues people are having are with the kernel, the website has a Q&A...IT WORKS imagine that. Get the right kernel for your card and it should work not matter if it is a knock off or not. The card is merely a bypass agent, the kernel is what makes the software work. and also DO NOT UPDATE YOUR DSi AFTER USING CARD SUCCESSFULLY!!!!! Nintendo is constantly trying to stop hacks so do not fix what is not broken. Just because you have a brand new Silver, Gold, Red or standard R4i card does not mean you can use the latest kernel. You may have to try a few different ones before getting the right one. Do not do an onslaught of game drag and drops first, put 3 or 4 roms on the card with the kernel software. If the kernel does not work, delete the kernel files and unpack another kernel to the card. Once it works, then put the game ROM's on the card, make sure to leave at least 1GB free on the card after loading games and the card is formated for FAT32 PRIOR TO LOADING ANYTHING. Manufacture dates play a part too. Kernels can be hit and miss, if you look, you will get the right one. If you can not find it ask the support team on the site, they will send you the link to the right one.
I finally got my R4i card through and works fine on the DSi with v1.4. The interface is the same as the old R4 used on the DS phat. I have not tested the max capacity yet, have just tried the 2gig card but so far no complaints

For those new to this, R4i cards are for the DSi...especially v1.4U. R4 cards are mostly for the DS. R4 cards will not work in updated DSi's. When loading ROM's on the card or other homebrews, leave 1 to 1.5 GB for every 4 to 8GB of card. i.e. 8GB card (7.6GB actuall) you can fill up 6GB and have no issues. I am using 16GB micro's (15.1GB actual) I am only filling it up to 12GB. Anything over 13.5GB will lock your card up after a week of playing various games( by locking up...I mean the games will not load properly). Remember .sav files are stored on your micro card and not the DSi or the SD card slot. The only complaint I have....if you use 16GB or higher micro cards.....it takes forever to scroll through the games(200-400 games). I had a few 8GB micros that I split the games for my kids up on and they keep them in their DSi cases for quick outs. The newer R4i cards also support wifi play with the newer kernels. If you want your favorite games to show up sooner on your scrolling, rename them on the card and SORT by name before removing, they will show up in the order that you put them on the card or sorted them. I suggest renaming otherwise your files will look like this "1658 - Ultimate Mortal Kombat (U)(Xenaphobia).nds" If you have younger kids playing, rename them to make it easier on them.
OOOO I forgot to mention.....you can play other region games when using the R4i card. Not all games from every region will work..even US...but 95% will.
I got the r4i-sdhc card from DealExtreme and they work fine out of the box. I want to get another one, but they don't have it listed on website anymore. Anyone know where else i can get a r4i-sdhc card for less than $12 shipped? (I paid $9.xx shipped at DealExtreme. I want the same one I got, the one with the red box and www.r4i-sdhc.com and v1.4 written on the chip and box.

I went to check if the one I got from DX f0r $10.56 as that worked with 1.4 (SKU 25411) but that is not there either. But they do have a gold card which says it works with 1.4 http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30502
Its deals in volume therefore shipping is in the $20 range at least so there's no $9 shipped cart. Its $30 for one about the same price as others( or more) internet retailer whereas they were $9 shipped previously.

They stopped advertising the flashcards on their site due to DCMA issues (and Paypal?). Some people report you can still order them with a little creativity.
essentially just add the old sku number into the "URL http://www.DealExtreme.com/shoppingcart.dx/add.XXXXX~quantity.1" and it will still add the item to your cart. No way to tell if the items actually in stock and there's no real verification from DX staff that it'll work, but even if it doesn't, you should be able to get a refund if it never ships.
PS. Superflysocal - If you REALLY want people to be able to answer you, you need to enable messages, or leave an email or something ffs.
EDIT: I placed an order that included Acekard 2i flash cards with DX on Jan 21. It was 'pending' and today switched to 'packing', so seems like these are still being sold. I will update when/if shipped and received. Now listed as Shipped, Jan 28.
Danzilla, I just read about that trick from another forum. I have tried it, ordered a card. I was going to report back about the order. State of order is expedited. I will let you know the outcome.
I just checked my order for a Super R4i Upgrade Revolution SKU 25411 and status is Packaging. That to me says the workaround from Danzilla works sweet.
Look at what Danzilla posted. Example SKU is 25411 (Super R4i)

Alright... I want to pull the trigger on a couple of these cards for my kids' DS Lites. Basically, so they don't lose their ROMs. Seems like DX is the vendor of choice. Being a newbie, I want to get the right cards. Any advice?

True, there are soooooooo many clones out there. If you're really curious about it there's a great chart here: DS Flash Cards (Hint: you can get genuine cards there too, not the cheapest but they ship from the US and offer actual support).
But seriously, just buy the expensive cards like the M3i Zero the small cost in difference means you get a top notch well supported card and they pay for themselves over and over again.
