WalMart B&M has Berkley Lightning Rod spinning and casting fishing rods for $19.00, down from $36.95 on clearance, various lengths and weights. I picked up a 6' MH, IM6 graphite blank, cork handle, 1/4-1oz lure wt, 8-17lb line, titanium guide seats spinning rod today at lunch at the Hudson, MA store. Nice rod for the money. Last week the scanner read $19.00, today it came up back to $36.95, but they overrode this at the register because they're all still marked $19. Because of that, and the varying selection, YMMV.
A few months til it would get much use, but since I broke two rods last summer, I better stock up now. I wish I could say it was the giant fish that broke the rods, but it was trying to cast from over grown banks. The hook would grab a branch behind me and *SNAP*. You'd think I'd learn my lesson the first time it happened...

Thanks for posting, I'll check it out tonight. That wouldn't have happened if you would use an Ugly Stik!!
I went fishing last week for the first time since I was a kid and want to get into fishing. Would this be a good rod to start with? I'm at WalMart but I don't see any lightning rods, just berkley fusion. thanks.

lightning are good starter rods, but I personally don't like the IM6 graphite, a bit stiff for me.
Looks like it's dead now. Was in WalMart today at lunch, the clearance stickers have been peeled off the Berkley rods, so they've either ended the sale or caught on to a price mistake.
