Everyone should already know about the unlimited and the 1200/1200 talk and text plans, but if that is still too much for you, Page Plus has also dropped their rates on the pay as you go cards.
See this page for the standard plan details. See this HoFo post here for more info on the rate changes.
New rates: Card Minutes Rate per minute $10 100 $0.10 $25 416 $0.06 $50 1,000 $0.05 $80 2,000 $0.04
Currently you can not buy an $80 card on the Page Plus website and must use a dealer instead.
I'd rather leave the bring your own phone discussion to the other forums and/or this forum over at howardforums. Also rumors should stay over at HoFo, please.
I've been with PP for 3 years - NEVER a problem. If all you need is basic cell service, this is the best value I've found. The rate reduction just makes it better.
Got most of my family on Page Plus now. Customer service can be hard to reach, but service and price are great.

Let me sing some praise for PP as well. I'm on the 1200/1200 plan, and my wife uses the pay-as-you-go. Uses the Verizon wireless prepaid network, at a fraction of the cost you'd pay Verizon.
A great deal no doubt. And like the OP says, avoid the rumors.
If I didn't just buy an E71, I would be all over this deal. Way cheaper than T-Mobile. Only downside is you can just swap out sims to move to a new phone......
Edit: I guess the rates are much better if you use your phone more. The $10 a year after $100 spent on T-Mobile can't be beat.
I switched out of a four line verizon account to move to PagePlus. I now have five lines active.
I have an unlimited with my old trusty E815 and standard plans on my other E815 as well as a ported number to another phone. I setup my sister with the 1200/1200 line and setup her old Samsung Hue on a standard plan as a backup.

Not for me, you have to "replenish" (add new minutes) your account every 3 months.
Can anyone give me a comparison of PP vs Tracfone? I was about to get a Tracfone and the offerings look very similar, except the phone prices seem slightly higher.

You have 120 days to add more minutes, once you do your balance rolls over. If you rotate 1000 and 100 minute cards it ends up costing about $7.50 a month for 137.5 minutes a month.
The Net10 deal seems a little better, $5 a month for 150 minutes. You do have the hassle of changing phones every 4 months to keep that rate though...

Well, their expiration days definition enable them to rip people off. It's not 120 days, and their CS people once told me it was 119th day's night. Their default setting on the call is to tell you how many minutes you have but to tell you when they will expire, so you now their game plan.

Actually it is every 120 days
"You won’t lose your minutes at the end of a billing period – the minutes will roll over as long as you replenish your account every 120 days."

a) If you call more, $80/3 = $26.7 a month with 667 minutes ( you have to replenish every 120 days == contract ) b) If you call less, $40/yr with 400 minutes ( you have to replenish every 120 days to keep it going )

Your math is off. 3 months averages to 90 days NOT 120 days. That would be 4 months.
Bottom line, 4-6 cents a minute is less than ~8 cents a minute with TMO. If you talk more, PagePlus is a good deal...
personally, i think the best part of PPC is you can use pretty much any verizon phone and most non-blackberry phones set up for internet really easy with reasonable data rates

My flock browser seems put everything as unicode. I switch back to IE.
just to let people know there are issues with page plus too. They were great in price and helpful but now not so great. They do offer attrative rate and both pay-per-call and monthly plan. However, recent dealing with their customer service made me keep thinking to switch service. The cs could not resolve issues, hang up on me, or just laugh at what I told them.I have heard quite a few people having droped call problems cannot resolved by page plus. They were told it was verizon problem and that's it, no help at all.
Fortunately I don't have dropped call issue,so I am still with them but look for replacement.

It is tempting and I am considering PPC, but here are my reasons for sticking with Tmobile Prepaid for now (250 minutes/month):
1. 1 Year expiration - less refill anxiety (major), three times less chance to lose minute balance by forgetting to refill, and $10 refill per year keeps it going if over $100 has been added (gold rewards) for lite users. 2. Major carrier not a reseller MVNO - remote but less likely chance to go under unexpectedly (although I heard PPC has been around awhile) and lose minutes and phone number - this is big; for instance with PPC there could be a dispute in contract with their supplier for instance or getting unprofitable by racing to the bottom too quickly. 3. Free unlimited Tzones web for CNN, ABC news, and other web sites (YMMV). 4. Great customer service. 5. GSM can switch phones instantly with sim card 6. Offers on refill cards e.g. 35% bing Cash Back on $100 refills - 6.5 cents/min from Tmobile.com, otherwise should be close to 8 cents/min with combined discounts on eBay (YMMV). 7. Very good service in CA (YMMV) 8. 4 cents per minute with PPC only achievable if talking 500 minutes per month - too much for me.
Is my math correct? So I buy an $80 card for 2000min but have to replenish every 120days so I have to replenish 2 more time in a year period. Let's assume I replenish twice w/ only the $10 card for 100min so would my total for the year be $100 for 2200minutes thereby averaging out to $.04545 cents/min. If that is correct this is even better than my Tmobile to GO which is costing me about $85(eBay after bcb) for 1000min every 6-7months.
Question: Does the PPC requirement to purchase more minutes every 120 days to avoid losing accumulated minutes on account have a minimum charge ? Lets say I purchase the 2000 minutes/$80 today, and then purchase $10 cards every ~ 120 days. Have I avoided the problem of my minutes expiring ? Or do I have to purchase the $80 card every four months ?

Yea, the prepaid market is really a 'what is right for you' deal. Good details to support yourself!

yes, $10 cards will keep your account active no matter what you started out with.

"This card will add 100 minutes to your account and extend your expiration date 120 days."
I have activated PagePlus phones on the basic service for 99 cents (Keith wireless) and for free (yesterday's special from kitty wireless as posted on FW) and will just add a $10 card in the third month and have a year or service for about $21. Perfect for ultra low use phones.
Thanks FW folk. By my arithmetic then, someone who uses about 2300 minutes a year will pay $80+$10+$10+$10 = $110, equal to 4.78 cents/minute. For my use in an area where only Verizon has good coverage, this is a terrific deal.

What the flock, that is really flocked up. For flock sake you need to get rid of the flocking browser
Yeah, I'm gonna switch when my minutes w/ TMO is over since VZ coverage is way better than TMO. Everytime I go fishing or gambling, I can't be contacted on TMO. Also, you can buy refill cards from eBay for $80 so after BCB it is ~$73.50.
Keep in mind that if you aren't sure about doing the switch, use any old Verizon phone & get $6 worth of time for $1 (search for Page Plus Activation on one of the big auction sites). If it doesn't do what you need, abandon it & you're out $1. If it does work, then either activate a better Verizon phone or use one of the same activation sellers to move your # to the new phone. Most charge $1-$3 to do this.

First, setup online account access. Then submit a request, online, asking that it be turned off. You can phone customer support to make the request, but don't. Customer support is over whelmed. Page Plus Cellular is growing too fast for CS to keep up.
I've had Pageplus for about 4 months now, and so far, I love it. Verizon is the only carrier that gets good coverage in our area, and PagePlus uses Verizon's network. I use an old Alltel phone (LG Scoop) and it works fine.
I just ordered another phone as a gift, a refurb LG EnV (aka LG VX9900) directly from PagePlus for $75.90 shipped. The price was similar to eBay, and (I believe) it is flashed with PagePlus firmware.
