Whoever posted that the Lenova CQ60-615DX was normally 1500.00 at Best buy needs to double ck, that is incorrect. Oh, and I would not buy a Toshiba, been there and done that! The touchpads overheat to where you cannot touch them and it took me contacting the home office VP to get it swapped six months of complete he**. Of, course, I had to purchase another laptop to use b/c i could not even use it, b/c it got so hot!
Oh, one more thing, I have a HP, with Vista Premium. It causes a lot of conflicts. But, HP's has posted on their site that not all HP's are compatible with Windows 7, and it does not have compatible drivers. So, be sure to ck it out b/f purchase.
Added the "Lenovo G530(4151A2U) 15.4" NoteBook w/ Pentium Dual-Core T4400 (2.20GHz) $379.99 w/ Free Shipping at Newegg" to my post!

If I connect an external monitor to these 15.6" screens that display 1366x768 will I get the full 1920x1080 on the external monitor? I want a lot of real estate with multiple windows open at the same time. The 17.3" Laptops are better since they typically offer 1600x900 but are heavier at approx 6-7 lbs. I would be served OK if I can use an external monitor on my desk for the heavy work and when I want to be mobile, I just take the 15.6" 5 lb machine with me. Any ideas?

It should have no problem. This is what I'm using my notebook now!

I need a laptop but it seems like you can always find a large population of reviews that say that each company is crap and "DONT BUY THIS LAPTOP" ????????? SO what company has the best quality??

Sorry about your bad experience with Toshiba, but mine was exact opposite. I have had two and both lasted 5+ years. I'm sure we could fill this thread with all the good/bad anecdotes of laptops listed above--that's why I read most of the ratings on stuff before I buy. There is definitely more opportunity now to be a more informed consumer compared to even 2-3 years ago.
I called Sony style and got an extra 10% off. It was for my son and he didn't want to wait any longer. I think there will be better deals coming soon - no reason but my gut feeling.

The 16" Toshiba does look like a good deal. Any more comments regarding the "hot" touchpad?
Can anyone help a non-techie compare the Compaq from Bestbuy and the Acer from Staples? Needing to add a new laptop here, I currently have a Toshiba that I'm happy with but need another cheap one so my son and I can do schoolwork at the same time. I see there is a difference in memory, etc, is it a relevant difference for someone who uses the computer for schoolwork, online shopping, message boards, etc?
Thanks!

I went to Best Buy and looked at the Compaq. I did not like the overall look of it, mostly the palmrest area. Its grey and bland looking. There is an Acer for the same price on the BB website for $329. I would hold your breath and see what is going on sale this Sunday.

A word about the Toshiba i7 laptop. The 2.8Ghz speed is turbo speed with one core activated. With all 4 cores, it is 1.6ghz

Does anyone know of deals for 64 bit laptops with more than 4GB RAM? E.g., 8 GB or 16 GB?
