2001 has been this price for awhile . Seems Amazon has been trying to match Walmarts price(s) . However WalMart just lowered 2001 again to $7.86

how is the movie? worth watching more then once? i have never watch it before...but i saw moon--thought it was ok...but probably not worth watching again

This film doubles as a sleep aid.

LOL sleep aid... I remember when this movie came out there was nothing like it ever at that time, big wow factor..movies from the 60's tend to have have more talking and less action then today's movies ( just as the 40's movies seem to be almost all talking ) so I see what you mean.. I watched the original casino royale and the italian job and both were huge snoozers compared to the newer versions.. but this one stands by itself as one of the great movies if indeed abit cerebral..........

This movie is not for everyone but I for one loved it! I'm a huge Kubrick fan.

thanks all--convinced me to just give it a try...only $8

If you require jump-cut editing with 3 second shots, having everything explained to you, or having a tidy ending, this is not your film.

Very interesting site. Definitely worth bookmarking.

Read Clark's "Childhood's End" will help to understand this movie! Otherwise it will remain as obtuse as it appears!

back in the early 70's, "2001" sounded soooo futuristic.
now it sounds sooooo dated!
