I contacted their on-line chat support. Beyond worthless. Ended up canceling and signing back up just in case. Will report back if I receive the confirmation email or not.

it's work for home phone and internet? or wireless only
Discontinued and re-applied for auto-pay, really quite easy. Received instant emails about both but nothing about a gift card...will monitor, thanks op!

Wireless only.

People should try to cancel, wait a certain time period, then sign back up again, so their computers can update that you're not a linked card account.
If someone can figure out when this promo ends, this would help people max out the time to wait.

Last time this was posted it was only valid on accounts that had gotten promotional emails about the offer

i am planning to register again with another mastercard, just before the promotion ends.
Update: Got it. "Use any MasterCard* to enroll in AutoPay by March 25, 2010 and you'll receive a $20 AT&T Gift Card."
I think this might be applicable only to those who received such an email.
I didn't receive the promotion email. After seeing the post here, I've signed up. I have wireless account for cell phones. I got the confirmation regarding Auto Pay is set up but didn't mention the $20.
Do you mean you have received this promotion email? After you sign up, do you see a different kind of conformation regarding the $20? Thanks!
I received and signed up for autopay from the email. Here is the email confirmation I received:
Your AutoPay Request Hello Valued Customer,
Your request to enroll for AutoPay has been received. Once set up, AutoPay will be noted on page one of your monthly bill. Until your statement confirms your AutoPay enrollment, please continue to make payments per usual. Note: It may take until the next billing cycle to take effect.
To discuss charges on your account, please contact AT&T Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500 or dial 611 from your wireless phone.
Thank you, AT&T
No mention of the $20 gift card but I expect they will not send it out until the autopay takes effect which may take one or two billing cycles. Now if they offer me another $20 I may consider going paperless billing

you should consider paperless billing for the sake of the environment and decreased chance of identity theft instead of the personal gain of $20
Thank you for enrolling in AutoPay. This email is to confirm that you are eligible to receive a MasterCard Gift Card for your participation. You will receive your MasterCard Gift Card via USPS mail within 4 - 6 weeks.
For more information, please visit www.ATTMCGiftCard.com/FAQ or call 1-888-867-8032 to speak with a Customer Service Representative.
This I got after signing up. So as said before I will have to pay Once using auto pay and before my second billing cycle I will get the card. Then I will cancel auto pay after I get the card.

isnt one of the first rules of FW NOT TO CALL!?!?!?!?!?!
Yes, supposedly to alert sales associates about a "hot" deal, even though they'll be alerted once you step in the store and check out with your purchase so it really doesnt make a difference in the end if you call or not. However, this is not the type of deal you don't call for. Give me one good reason that my calling to see if it was a targeted promotion might mess up your chances of getting the deal. Not the sharpest tools in the shed are we?
The bottom line is, if you did not get the invitation email, you will receive a confirmation that you signed up for auto pay and will not get a gift card. You will also likely not be targeted in future promotions since you're already enrolled, so my calling "against the rules" actually will help people from signing up thinking they'll get something and stopping them from becoming eligible in the future. Thanks for the red - not sorry if you think I "ruined" the deal for you.
Just transferred the wife's account over to get my FAN added to it (stupid 'ole AT&T can't combine different area code numbers into a Family Plan!) and decided I'd check on FW before enrolling it for autopay.
Presto - found this link. Clicked through and got an on-screen banner image saying I'd get a $20 card for signing up, so I'm hoping it works!
