Core 2 Extreme SLI Kit

$764.99 - $64 Rebates = $699.99

Ultra LSP650 650-Watt Power Supply
NZXT Tempest ATX Mid-Tower Case
EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1GB DDR3, HDMI & VGA
Hitachi OS00163 1TB Deskstar Internal Hard Drive
Corsair XMS2 4GB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 3.0GHz OEM fast..
Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLI Motherboard

The only downside I see is that it is Socket 775. So don't know the future upgrade potential.
The energy consumption is probably higher than the i7's.
But a lot of performance for the money with ASUS/Corsair/EVGA/Hitachi quality.

On the flip side, the power supply is Ultra brand which isn't exactly top tier. PSU is not something to skimp on.

OK deal if you need help picking out components. I honestly think you could put together something as good or better for about $200 less, especially if you have Fry's or by taking advantage of Newegg combos. Also the 5770 is close enough in price that I wouldn't get a GT250.

Not sure about the "$200 less" part, if you do not have a Fry's nearby.
However for a bit more money, you could get i7-920 from Microcenter for $200 and get the rest from Newegg/ZZF etc, for a better and future-proof system.

Unfortunately for the most of us, we dont have a frys or a microcenter so any good online deals are nice to see. Thanks for the post OP
