Did any one try Google Voice application on this kind of phones? I wonder if I have only data plan from any service provider and use Google Voice for calling, will it work?

I have the XM5800 and can use Google Voice with my SIP number (you can get one from service such as Gizmo5, I'm lucky enough that my institution supplies me with one). I've read there is a new app called "GoogleVoiceForS60" that will allow you to give SMS & make free outgoing calls to the US & Canada, but no incoming yet.
Given that the N97 uses the same OS and such, I think that they should work for you as well. I don't think that you'll be only able to use just a data plan though at this moment (not to mention I don't think there is any plan currently out there that will give you unlimited data w/o having some sort of voice plan).
