The prices stay the same until they sell out. If a product, especially non-food items, sells too slowly,it eventually gets marked dowm for clearance. For example they occasionally have a 4 slice toaster that they sell for 24.95. I found it clearanced for 8.00 I'm pretty sure that each store sets its own policy for clearance.
Bought an inexpensive DVD player at a local Aldi (Orlando area) reduced to $17.97. It's perfect for the few months that we are here this year and, at that price, no need to worry about MIR or anything else.
The Aldi brothers are two of the richest men in Germany -- billionaires. Every 1-horse town in Germany has at least 1 Aldi store. One brother owns all the stores south of Frankfurt and the other all the stores north of Frankfurt (don't ask which of the brothers is responsible for the stores IN Frankfurt). They have incredible non-food specials (TVs, laptops, GPS, etc. etc. -- most of the electronics have the Medion branding) and everything has an extended warranty (2 years is standard in the EU, Aldi offers 3 years). We've had 3 of their laptops and PCs, and all were excellent machines.
Our local Aldi had 25 Zhu Zhu Pets, all were out in, practically, 1 minute since the store opened its door. I managed to grab 2 for my kids. I checked out in 15 minutes later, and the clerk told me she only checked out 5 ZZPs so far. I just wish some idiots did not steal any of those!
CVS has a bunch. limit 2 $7.99 each. they have some of the other zhu zhu stuff too.

True, I have purchased many items that were marked down on clearance. The 4 slice toaster being one of them - not a bd toaster, but it takes about 5-6 minutes to toast your bread... my husband complains ever time he uses it The other deals have been great though!
